My fave Dave Clarke set (CD, E-mix, live etc.) since his Jan 2000 essential mix.

Totally agree with seeker; the 2 DJs work well together. Josh Wink builds up perfectly for Dave Clarke to hammer it relentlessly for an hour...and probably longer.

I'll give this a 9 because it totally sums up 2000 for me.

Totally biased and totally subjective but this was the soundtrack whilst driving to/getting ready for sundissential, insomniacz, gatecrasher etc.

Silly silly tracks representing the silly underbelly of british society.

Some quality tracks on there as well mind you; notebly:
Chris C - Freefall
M11 (remix of "only Me" by hyperlogic)
Nick sentience - Freedom
Shock 48

....oh sorry I ws taking life a bit seriously for a second....pass the ket *snif*

This was the soundtrack on the road to Birmingham in the early hours of sunday morning after my mates and I got refused entry so see Oakey at Cream.

I love Oakey but I doubt his set was as good as this that night!

The middle of this mix is something quite special and shows off PVDs style to a T; perectly bridging the floatier moments with a much more techy style to snap people out of their collective trance; something only PVD ever seemed to do!

PVD has always stuck around because he is a leader; he plays what he likes and he likes what he plays and that shows. When other DJs jumped on the trance bandwagon they didn't last (a) because it was too obvious and (b) because they didn't know how to structure their mixes......keep trying

This Essential Mix wasrecorde at the Rojam Discoteque in Shanghai. Got to love tongy at the start "I bet you haven't been there" Well I have and it makes this mix that bit more amazing. Loving the first track; Openers like that are what makes an Oakey gig special!!!!!!!! (that and the amazing track somewhere in the middle of each set you've never heard anyone else play)

Being pretty open-minded, I liked the mix. It was like a smarter "party" mix, cut/mashed up in a way "hotmixes" were done when house music first came out.

I'm a bit sick of the, now ,"traditional" inaccessible nuanced prog / tech house / minimal tech / breaks mixes that have been played for AGES.

This is just something that's fun with tons of true classics that you can actually imagine hot girls getting down to, instead of just a bunch of geeky guys bobbing their heads, as usual.

Freak n' Chic is a cool name for a label too

Cool, polished sounding tech-house mix. The guy is a resident in Space and DC10 Ibiza, can't wait to see him in both next summer. There are some gems in this mix.

I think techno like this needs a big soundsystem, a club and some atmosphere to get the most out of it.

I would respect your opinion if you gave it a low rating like 2-4, but giving this a zero is just a barefaced display of ignorance, because I simply can't see how it deserves that.

 paddy_f writes: [ 2006-12-31 - Trentemoller, Essential Mix Of The Year ]
IMO this is a mix for all fans of music, not just dance music enthusiasts. I think some people are approaching this expecting something they're not going to get. It's not a peak time club techno set that makes you want to dance. Anyone can throw together a formulaic minimal techno/house set that's not much different from dozens of others you could listen to; fair balls to trentemoller for putting together a unique mix and creating many of the tracks himself; it takes more imagination and skill to do that.

To reiterate : giving this mix a zero only proves that you have a very limited range of musical interests, or that you just don't know what you're talking about.

at first i wasnt a huge fan of this but i just cant seem to stop listening to it. i still think the first half is abit weak, but the last half an hour quite simply could not be any better.

Very good, very enjoyable. Touches on some different genres without pigeon holing itself. Heard these guys in a club playing with MANDY and loved them.

paddy_f writes: Worthy Winner [ 2006-12-31 - Trentemoller, Essential Mix Of The Year ]
Although I didn't vote for this mix, I enjoyed it immensely. It has great variation and depth. IMO anyone who gives this a 0/10 needs to sit down and have a chat with themselves.

SOS was a half decent/mediocre/formulaic prog set with the odd housey track thrown in for good measure.

After Trentemoller got EM of the year i said how i might stop listening to the EM, and after hearing this mix by a "hip hop" dj i might have to put my word to use.......what a bad way to start off the year on radio 1........utter crap......i'm from ny, and im not a fan....we need to get some real live sets of dj's in the mix no more of this shit
