 Information
Welcome to this site, here you can find the Radio One Essential Mix archives, ever since 1993 when it first broadcasted, up until today, and for the future. In time there will be features added for "artist in residence" which will be a profile of a DJ/Producer we will pick each month, and give you information about them and what they are doing now.

The page is updated by atleast a few people, so it is always up to date.

Yep -the student unions fave "turntablist" returns yet again to the Essential mix .
A Pretty awful mix.
Some hip hop classics , some decent tunes , some rubbish tracks ,some obligatory film /TV themes and novelty charity shop records plus a fair share of just straight up awful tunes.

Some of his "blends" (when they exsist) are absolutely awful !!- the Sisqo accapella over that Baltimore version of Go is truely hideous stuff.
The Wipeout /Sway /Tom Sawyer bit. ...EURGH.
No flow at all.
Crap blends - mostly faded in out sloppily (even for his own standards) radio stylz .
All over the place -very stop and start with some sloppy scratches .
AWFUL!!!
..and ultimately dull.

Whilst Yodas mix back in 2003 was irritating and full of novelty bits and bobs it did have its good moments -but this literally has none. A Rubbish mix .
Terrible!

Legendary set. Bob has sold his soul, but anyone doubting his ability should check this out. Tune selection is spot on. It really makes you want to Party this one.

Still rates as one of the best sets. I've had it in my PC/Ipod/Psp since 2000 and has not left!

I keep this mix in my rotation. Its brilliant and dark, it seems to fill any void. Its almost 2007 and everytime i listen to this mix it feels as though it were just mixed. I simply love it.

Started well...but then went fairly dull after about the 4th track.

My problem with Tong is not that he messes up, but that his mixes always seem to be a random collection of hit and miss tunes that have no overall feel in terms of a full mix. This one is a good example, I switched off after Lollipop and Audio Bullys put me off.

Yes, utterly ridiculous...and I skipped through most of it, but I actually preferred this to Marcel Woods' half. I could see how kids off their nut would enjoy it. A bit like the old happy house mixes - ridiculous and unsubtle, but you can see how the glowstick brigade would go for it.

I very rarely enjoy a Fergie mix, and this one is a good illustration. Bleepy bullshit imo.

 tgross79 writes: [ 2006-10-01 - Bob Sinclar ]
i dont see the hype around sinclair, i know he is recogized throught the world, but i can't take anymore of this house music.....its turning into disco...i didn't listen to most of the mix, i was waiting for him to drop something nasty and it never came!

i digged it, i think tongy does a good job djing, everyone always give him shit cuz he messes up, ive seen sasha live 6 times and he's messed up a lot.....but tongy through down some ill tunes, i dig the audio bully's new release, good job on the mix tongy!!!

 tgross79 writes: [ 2006-11-19 - Mark Knight ]
not a bad mix........though i am not looking to the EM lately, just bc most of it isn't live anymore.......but tongy is a witty individual...i give you that...mark knight's previous mix was better.

 tgross79 writes: listening to it now [ 2006-11-26 - DJ Yoda ]
listening to the EM right now......doesn't do anything for me, i give dj yoda credit for being an ill DJ, but not really into the hiphop rap genre, i like how he's doing some nice scratching but, this belongs on westwood's show, not on the EM, and it's not live......so what's there to like? i could rent a dj rap mix cd, and hear the same stuff......ecletic mix tho, i'd rate it a 6, maybe you guy's can prove me wrong.

I agree with ferd...an enjoyable upbeat mix that doesn't stretch any boundaries, but sometimes that's absolutely fine.
