The track listed as Leftfield - Song for Ever . Is actualy Leftfield - Cut For Life. It appears on the Tong Cox Sasha Oakenfold Essential Mix CD that was released in 1995 on the Cox mix track 6 and oftern mistaken as Leftfield - Song Of Life. |

I enjoyed the first part of this mix but later it descended into cheesy territory an ok remix of shout followed by a poor rework of shined on me let the mix down. Amber D played a Marco V track later which improved things slightly but followed it with a cheesy Sharkboy bootleg. The mixing was good throughout but considering the quality DJs (e.g. Ian M, Andy Farley, Ed Real, BK etc) which played at the Tidy Weekender Radio 1 could have picked better. |

For the Tidy Boys (who have a reputation for train wrecking and playing cheesy tunes) this wasn't bad. There was some good records; Paul Maddox - I can't let go, N20 etc. There was also a few cheesy remixes which let it down but a tleast they kept the samples to a mininum and the mixing was good throughout. |

I think this is a great mix. The previous review mentions the word 'club' a couple of times, and it is true that this would not fit in a club. However, for anyone (like me) just as interested in the 'at home' listening experience, I highly recommend this piece.
It has something about it that lifts it above other recent minimal offerings (more melody perhaps?), including much more of an overall feel to the mix.
Recommended. |

The first half is an excellent driving and edgy trance mix, without all those stupid breakdown/mega riff combos that ruin all the tension. Sadly, the second half is filled with downright awful uk hard dance records that completely ruin the experience for me.
I also agree with matrix that the mix itself sounds very squeaky clean and synthetic. The transitions are almost too smooth and precise. |

Second time I've posted before hearing the set and second time I've been hugely disappointing. Not a patch on his GDJB sets and hard to say who will enjoy this - it's certainly not trance and the hybrid style may put off the techno-heads out there. First 20mins is utter garbage with broken machinery and Nintendo sound FX. Has the Radio 1 crew had some influence or is he looking to suit the hard house masses?! A below average year for the Essential Mix continues |
