This is probably the greatest progressive mix I have heard that track by "Papa & Gilby" is a real winner, also first time I heard "Walls Of Jericho" a real stomping tune sounds very fresh even today.

I like this, there's some clever stuff from PT in there, with some nice touches for the local audience. Well thought out mix, and often gets a rotation.

Yeah, this one hasn't aged too badly. I like NYE mixes because you can often sense the energy involved from both artist and audience. You get a lot of that with this mix. Definitely worth a liaten.

One of the few mixes that can take u on a full emotional music ride. Garnier surpasses his first mix on trax selection alone. Classic!!

What a superb mix!! Garnier mixes like the rave dj's of old: If it's good i'll play it! Excellent selection of trax. 12 years old in June and still gets rinsed to this day!!!

What else would you expect from Mr. Peterson? Eclectic and damn funky.

P.S. Roni Size 'Horse Coad' should be 'Morse Code'!!!!

matrix is by far one of the best judges on this site and touches the point well each time and although i have to agree with his views i give danny a 10 anyways, his reverential use of "how house began" in this set was overplayed but i was most suprised with the fact that he didnt play tracks from his life, millionare hippies and dsk what would we do,would have been a nicer way to remember him by playing his jdj album, nufff said

if you listen to this mix with an open mind its still dull, sasha is an idol now, of past pleasures, give it up to the new generation, just shows how behind the scene radio 1 really is, may 95 was his last best em

 KoolzAK1200 writes: Good /but salrightish...for them chapz [ 2006-01-29 - Coldcut ]
First off.
Yeh some of this mix was too overfamiliar.
Especially first half hour or so .....The Terrorist (accapella.....again? Christ!) + the Don Dadda routines / ATCQ & Mr Scruffs Ug was well ...just well too overfamiliar of Coldcut & indeed of strictly kev routines of past few years ....+ Eric B & Rakim -I Know You Got Soul Accapellas again?! + Sweet Tee ? BDP? again?....soz...classic hip hop , yes , but played to death , yes ...surely they could have / should have dug a bit deeper.
Having said that this was (if bit bizarely somewhat) Coldcuts first EVER essential mix on radio 1 so those not familiar with Coldcut or past solid steel radio mixes might have been blown away as of course it was all very nicely enough put together still .Dont get me wrong -even the first half hour or so typically well mixed ,blends , nice edits and plenty goin on ...but just too overfamiliar.
Later on some of the dancehall / raggae was niice (if again bit ...familiar) and doubles on the tempos typically great stuff ,,,plus ...despite me goin on about the familiarity of first half part of the mix it was actually really nice to hear Bola and indeed Junior Reed later on . Franz Ferdinands inclusion depsite its warped dubbed out inclusion was a bit too much for me...soz but theyre shite no matter what cha do with it....but of course there was plenty of niiice blends along the way , nice edits , nice spoken word shannigans & reworkings + their phrasin of scratching even has come a long way bit (bit suprisingly!- have they got Pro X faders now ?... )
All in all its still a top mix and was good to hear them finally on an essential i was just a bit underwhelmed by some over-tried & tested trackselection along the way...still good tho

ferd writes: Good stuff! [ 2004-03-28 - Christopher Lawrence ]
Didn't recognize the name "Christopher Lawrence" so I didn't know what to expect from this mix. I was surprised I enjoyed it as much as I did... not normally my style of music, but his excellent selection of beat-heavy, high-BPM, hard-dancin' tracks won me over. A solid mix from a DJ I'll be watching for from now on.
