 Information
Welcome to this site, here you can find the Radio One Essential Mix archives, ever since 1993 when it first broadcasted, up until today, and for the future. In time there will be features added for "artist in residence" which will be a profile of a DJ/Producer we will pick each month, and give you information about them and what they are doing now.

The page is updated by atleast a few people, so it is always up to date.

The mixing is rudimentary to say the least, but this mix works a treat as a high energy trip back to the early 90's. Perhaps too often strays into happy vocal house to be given a higher mark.

Incredible Mix, very upbeat and mellow where it counts. Wouldn't have expected anything less from Paul Van Dyk!

austoff writes: had he phoned in sick? [ 2005-08-14 - Fergie live from Space, Ibiza ]
yeah pete tongs irish cousin mixed ok,i believe that fergies problem lies in the fact that he overworks, too many sets, always tring to rush the mix and taking the tunes out of his box with his eyes closed.

he used to be shit hot, seriously, until the radio one jinx got him.

austoff writes: time gone by, [ 2005-09-18 - Pendulum ]
the essential mix has had its day, yeah im an old hat but the first five years were great and now all they seem to want to use the show for is broadcasting live gigs, which have always sounded shit live on air anyway.

radio one need to ditch it .

in the old days, here we go again, it was a musical journey but now , no.Those old days of listening to djs you could never otherwise hear showing their personality and style for two hours at a time in the morning when no other fool would are GONE.

now its no more than a sounbite ,am i going on?

i blame pete tong, especially judge jules and hed kandi, there you go.

pendulum was alright.......................

Malacoda writes: That last track [ 2003-01-12 - Ashley Casselle ]
Surprised no one's mentioned this. I dunno about this "Guise - Voodoo Glow" nonsense -- the track is actually a remix of A Guy Called Gerald's classic "Voodoo Ray." It's not one that I've heard though, so I haven't been able to figure it out. Any help on this would be appreciated.

I can see the inventiveness and creativity, but it is simply not music that I can stomach for more than about 10 minutes. Don't waste your time with this one.

ronennoy writes: who listens to this crap? [ 2005-09-18 - Pendulum ]
god the essential mix sure is getting alot of shitty artists lately. i consider the emix to be a sort of 2hour musical journey

this mix sounds like these guys snorted a few g's of amphetamine. or maybe drum and base just sucks either way? id go for the latter

 ronennoy writes: eww [ 2005-06-19 - Deep Dish ]
