I was very skeptical about this mix considering the shite Tiesto has been playing. I`m not dissapointed, though - nice tunes, less cheese. Even gets a little tougher towards the end.

it wasnt that bad.....i dont know why he was throwin into the middle of pvd and digweed...but, fergie def has his own style that goes from hard house to trance and the like......gotta give it up to him, he doesnt always rock it the way you want, but he def doesnt step down to the competition....

tgross79 writes: sdro if u rate a mix, comment on it!! [ 2005-07-31 - John Digweed, Live fromGlobal Gathering ]
digweed always brings his best to the em...this hit the spot, it was dark enough, and it hit the all the right beats...i think he deserves to do a EM all on his own...diggers, cheers mate.

not very impressed with mr. van dyks track selection.....was hoping for something a little bit harder less euro trancey. his mixing is stellar as always but, i could not get into it.

 mkw-pfc writes: vega at best [ 1997-02-16 - Little Louie Vega ]
of the 60 or so vega mixes i have heard this is the best - the mixing is really good and the tunes blend in very well - only a few really killer tunes but still top class - shame stuff he plays now is so boring

 mkw-pfc writes: twats but good mix [ 1997-12-25 - Dreem Teem ]
the dreem team notorious for being shite & playing commercial & crap uk garage although this mix imho was quite good - came about when ukg was in its early days & sounded refreshing at times
no means a classic but a good mix - easy to slag off as uk garage is but cant be dismissed until heard
ps timmi magic was a really good dj back in 92

 mkw-pfc writes: oh yes [ 1995-02-05 - E - Smoove ]
this mix was absolutely sensational it flowed so well really dancey for the first 80 minutes or so - still refreshoing today - such a shame he decided that the outhere brothers should feature - the only weak track on the mix

 mkw-pfc writes: a joy to behold [ 1997-08-24 - Norman Jay ]
beautiful upbeat soulful mix carnival style again from mr jay his last truly great essential mix before getting too cheesy in 99&2000 the mixing if that is your be all & end all is again pretty poor but the tunes he plays & selection are top notch

 synkboy writes: [ 2005-06-19 - Deep Dish ]
Deep Dish.....well their crown is slipping somewhat imho.

Gone are the fantastic underground grooves of previous years and now all we are left with(in this mix anyway) is a pile of commercial sounding crap.

Gods Uncle - Overclockers is a fantastic wee tune, but other than that there is'nt a lot really to make this stand out from other run of the mill house mixes.

Don't get me started on their recent productions either...........

synkboy writes: Above correspondent... [ 2001-11-18 - James Holroyd ]
.....I am mystified as to how you can give this 1 and then leave no explanation why???

Anyhow....this is a very good mix, takes a few listens to get into it at first,a lot won't like as he strays away from big tunes and anthems, and delivers a classy tech-house/house mix which hits the spot nicely for me.

 synkboy writes: [ 2001-12-30 - Judge Jules Retrospective ]
This mix has no flow whatsoever and the mixing is atrocious.

But some of those tunes on there partially make up for the deficiencies on the technical side of things.

I still listen to this if I want a no brainer mix if I have people over to my house and we are "burning the midnight oil" so to speak

Does the trick in a situation like that I think.

 synkboy writes: [ 2000-12-03 - Mauro Picotto ]
This is very hard in places and not usually my cup of tea,but it is well mixed and constructed.

His own productions on here are terrible,Komodo etc......but some of the looped stuff he fires in to the mix makes up for this.

Not a bad mix at all.

Fantastic stuff,Digweed produces another masterclass in mixing, track selection and programming to leave the others falling behind again...

synkboy writes: Rubbish [ 2005-07-31 - Fergie, Live from Global Gathering ]
I really do have to say, this was laughable....and how he still continually gets booked for the top clubs in the UK and around the world baffles me.

 synkboy writes: [ 2000-01-09 - Scott Bond ]
One of the better trance Essential mixes,
the first half hour is first rate.

The incisions mix of Travel - Pray to Jerusalem is a key track.....been playing it for years.....albeit pitched down slightly from the speed Scott Bond plays it.

A fair effort.

awesome writes: It was a live mix... [ 2003-08-10 - Paul Oakenfold, Live from Amnesia, Ibiza ]
First of all, it wasn´t Oakeys best mix for sure and the mixing skills don´t sound like from a top top DJ.

But, It happened to be the first ever Live-Essential Mix I´ve managed to attend and I can say easily it was one of the greatest music events I ever experienced.

I think Oakey shouldn´t be compared with himself from 1999 or so. For sure he was "better" those days. Maybe he compares himself with that days, too and that is the reason for him not to be enough motivated. It was a different time and sound unfortunately it changed.
Regrettably I´ve never had the chance to see him play 1999 and maybe that is why I can not understand some people being that disappointed of this mix.
I am glad having experienced this man live, even though not in best form and time!!!
