 Information
Welcome to this site, here you can find the Radio One Essential Mix archives, ever since 1993 when it first broadcasted, up until today, and for the future. In time there will be features added for "artist in residence" which will be a profile of a DJ/Producer we will pick each month, and give you information about them and what they are doing now.

The page is updated by atleast a few people, so it is always up to date.

This was Radio 1's R.A.V.E day right? Got it on tape somewhere, I'm sure Coxy's on 4 decks at one point...

fresh-house writes: Ahead of its time [ 1995-07-16 - LTJ Bukem & MC Conrad ]
Bukem was right on it on this mix, it would still sound fresh today, if only my TDK D-90 tapes hadn't warped...

 synkboy writes: [ 2000-05-28 - Sasha & John Digweed ]
The real reason behind this uncharacteristally bad set by these two was the fact they were using the new fangled Vestax turntables that Home used around that time.

Sasha hated these turntables so much that when he got sent a set to test in 1999 he threw them into the pond in his garden as they were a crock of shit.

Remember reading about this in Muzik/Mixmag or something else at the time.

Interesting mix. A lot packed into an hour, maybe too much in places.

I like this one. Definitely a fresh approach. I wouldn't listen to this kind of thing all the time, and there are a few horrible bits of shouting rather than singing, but a decent mix nonetheless.

Very special mix. I heard it again and again... Each track is a burner ...and:
Alex Dolby + Evil9 = climax!!

 synkboy writes: Curious.... [ 1996-12-22 - Jeremy Healey ]
I remember reading somewhere that this was never broadcast due to something going wrong with Jeremy Healy's DAT recording of the mix,got broke or something.

I'm nearly sure ithis timeslot was filled by a rerun of an old mix......can't remember which one though.

have you listened to dave clake 'southside'
ab/dc 'the feeling'
dave clarke 'way of life'

these are all fantastic productions from Mr Clarke
Agreed that some are not to everyones taste, but dj/producers cannot satisfy everybodys taste all the time

I found this boring. Does not stand comparison with Bob Sinclar's effort in 2005.

LateNite writes: Keeps getting better and better. [ 2005-02-20 - Ben Watt ]
House music like this brings people together. Everything is top draw, from the mixing, to the records, to the fx. Imagine hearing something like this on a full blown system. Things would get a tad crazy.

 mkw-pfc writes: not commercial [ 1996-02-18 - Gusto ]
whilst discos revenge was very commercial & hit mainstream you would expect gustos mix to do the same but this mix was real quality with superb underground house sounds that were really dancey & not cheesey at all - bravo

 mkw-pfc writes: sam sums it up [ 1996-02-11 - Stacey Pullen ]
you said it sam - this is a great mix which makes the transition from vocal house to quality detroit techno seamlessly & that deliver me tune rocks (i'm loving the first track best personally)
9/10 - these days he still keeps the same housier side of techno without the panel beating hardtechno sound - quality dj

bargo writes: Still the best mix ever... [ 2003-02-23 - Mo Shic ]
Since the release no other EM have even come near this one! Moshic is truely the god of progressive mixing.
