pete tong sums it up in the intro - twisted funky techno awesome - i'd say tech house but really trippy & dancey as f*** mixmag bedroom bedlam winner now on eddie richards & terry francis' label a really tasty set listen if you can

 mkw-pfc writes: lovely mix lovely lady [ 1998-03-01 - DJ Paulette ]
what a journey this mix is - find yourself 2 hours & sit down and listen it gets overlooked as she is not a big hitter but believe me this mix should win a music award (if jose padillas 95 mix did then so should this) 3 deck mixing glorious soulful house/disco & samples goes up down & back up again cant praise this highly enough & she even had the decency to send me a complete copy of the mix herself & took time to send me a long email when i needed to id a track - sound girl !!

 mkw-pfc writes: beautiful [ 1996-03-03 - Dave Lee & Joey Negro ]
quality garage & disco here tune selection of this mix is sensational - came at a time when the essential mix was at its peak only downside of this mix was about 15 loops of keep on jumpin which became a tad annoying but a beautiful set

 mkw-pfc writes: very uplifting [ 1995-10-21 - DJ Camacho ]
was a classic 'happy' house set - extremely soulful & very different - could have lost the michael jackson track & some of the tracks a bit camp but still a 10 for me

 mkw-pfc writes: painful [ 2005-07-09 - Masters At Work ]
this mix was excriciatingly bad
these guys were the business yesteryear i loved their 92 house stuff & some of their compilations were superb & production wise have done wonders for house but this offering as most of their stuff in the last few years was piss poor
the 1997 essential mix was blinding yet this was tosh a big shame

mkw-pfc writes: first hour the best [ 1999-01-10 - Pete Heller & Terry Farley ]
the first hour of this mix is sublime deep & funky very similar to the excellent mos late night sessions 2cd set they di in late 98 but the mix died a bit for me after big love
not sure who did the first hour but i reckon probably farley as he is the better of the 2 by far (9/10 but would have have been 10 if it had stayed deep throughout & lost that awful madonna track

 mkw-pfc writes: fake mix info [ 1994-11-27 - CJ Mackintosh & Harvey ]
as pointed out above there are 2 mixes allegedly being this - this mix was live from the ministry of sound & just cj mackintosh not harvey as well - it has pete tongs voiceover & cuts off @ 1am for the news - i remember staying up listening to it & i have got the full 2 hours on cd somewhere
the other mix which starts off with barry white love is the icon is 1 disc of a 2xcd set called anthems by cj mackintosh & simon dunmore from 1996 so there you go
the mix itself was absolutely sensational & real top quality dance music from the time very soulful indeed a definate 10/10 for me
the copy of mix on the ftp site & winmx/kazaa is the wrong one & not the essential mix

mkw-pfc writes: the best essential mix ever [ 1996-10-27 - Andrew Weatherall ]
what can i say - the best essential mix there has been - my favourite mix of all time such deep spaced out house its untrue 2 hours of bliss & the mixing is sublime - his two lone swordsmen tracks on here really are the business & the track with the six million dollar man tune is a delight & the mix still holds its own today - oddly enough i cant bear the stuff he produces & plays today

mkw-pfc writes: handbag 93 dont think so [ 1993-11-27 - Terry Farley & Pete Heller (Junior Boys Own) ]
this mix is pretty dated now but as someone pointed out before this mix was well ahead of its time - there are some funky tunes in there and a very enjoyable mix generally - handbag house came out a few years after this notably through mark moore and that stuff was much cheesier than this mix & it only highlights how far advanced these two were - shame pete heller lost his direction as time moved on - 8/10 for me

Scrapes a 7 - too short to be satisfying but some OK tunes.
