 Information
Welcome to this site, here you can find the Radio One Essential Mix archives, ever since 1993 when it first broadcasted, up until today, and for the future. In time there will be features added for "artist in residence" which will be a profile of a DJ/Producer we will pick each month, and give you information about them and what they are doing now.

The page is updated by atleast a few people, so it is always up to date.

Dark & techy....but too often dull.

Ableton or no ableton, I loved this setlist. These songs are so catchy, infectious, refreshing and uplifting...what trance should be. And this coming from someone who has grown very bored with the genre overall.

But what is up with those dramatic tempo changes? Usually he's more subtle about that.

The M83 track is actually "Teen Angst", original.

Sea Monkey writes: tracklisting error [ 2003-05-11 - Adam Freeland ]
The tracklisting is missing Freeland - Heel 'N' Toe before Nirvana / Freeland - 'Smellslike Freeland' (White Label)

I personally, as many others i'm sure did, thought this was a wicked mix. Some other people will be inclined to think that just because an EM isn't chuck full of the latest prog hits, that it's simply not worth its salt, and deserves a low vote straight away. Everyone's musical tastes change to some degree sooner or later however. So if you slept on this EM earlier because it wasn't your style at the time, go back and check it out a few years later. You might be surprised.

Gotta agree with previous comments, superb, when prog was really the sound of choice, with Warren one of the ones setting the standard. This is one that has always stuck in the mind.

Very good mix, much better than I remember when I first listened ages ago. Pumping and very few duds in the tracklist. 8.5/10.

Hi,

i've found three uncredited tracks in Mylos mix.

The second one is that mention"unknown" track in the tracklist, the first one is near to the beginning and the 3rd one is mixed into Moby's lift me up.

Track 1
Track 2
Track 3

Can somone identify those three tracks? They are awesome!

thank you very much

tgif writes: 'if anyone knows where I can download it or anything'... [ 2005-06-19 - Deep Dish ]
Yes, you can hit up bbc.co.uk, then go into the radio/radio1/dance/essential mix page, which should take you to their 'listen again' player, although you can only listen to it for a week or so until the next one. For full downloads, I'm a big fan of www.freshlymixed.com. For about $7 every 3 months, you get unlimited downloads of all essential mixes ever made. People randomly post them to that site, usually within 1 or 2 weeks after the mix goes out. They have everything back to 1993, plus a bunch of other random mixes, such as breezblock and glastonbury. Hope that helps.

Cheers
