I liked the DJ Hooligan remix of Nighttrain, but your right it's way overplayed & not very good except for 1 or 2 mixes

Tongs beatmatching is attrocious, a few versions of tracks are also terrible, could've played better remixes.

Leitmotif writes: Somebody has got their dates mixed up [ 1997-04-06 - Sven Vath ]
This mix was broadcast in the early hours of Sunday 31 August 1997. I remember the news announcing the still very fresh news of the death of Princess Diana.

Mixing a bit dodgy???? What a comment that is! It's absolutely flawless. The guy's mixing opera, film scores and a good varied selection of the best of the second half of 95's tunes. You need balls to produce a mix like this and hats off-it was awesome.

Mary kiani - 'I give it all' (umboza mix)
Dubstar - 'not so manic now' (way out west mix)

It certainly is 'Range Rover' mix.
Check out the Fire Island remix of Annabella Leon's 'Do What Yo Do'. It was her next release and is an absolute stonker.

Wild colour - let it rain.

Not sure if this is the name of this tune or if it even exsists. Wild colour was an alias of Oakenfold but this isn't one of his-considering he was writing tracks like Rise - The Single, Grace - Orange etc. Does anyone out there have a copy or any info on this???

 Bpotter77  writes: Perfect-o. [ 1995-09-17 - Paul Oakenfold ]
How can anybody call the mixing on this? It's absolutely perfect. Oakie gets compared to Sasha constantly when it comes to mixing but you couldn't get more contrasting styles. Yes Sasha can mix tracks for minutes even when the beats aren't there to match but I find his selections utterly boring and lifeless for the main part. Sasha was the best mixer of trance and dreamy house but no other DJ had access to the tunes or knew which records would work a floor like Oakenfold did. The records he produced in the studio were aimed at the floor for his sets. His own 'Orange' was converted by DJ's like Digweed who had to wait a year to get their hands on it but only Oakenfold had it to play through 1995. He used to drop it at Cream and the place went bezerk-often waiting for it throughout the whole set - knowing it was coming. Highlights of this set were BT's Tripping, a re-run of 1993's You Know by Third Eye, Orange obviously, Desert's Moods and the brilliant Biff n Memphis mix of Jimmy Sommervilles 'By Your Side'.

Bpotter77  writes: We're having trouble keeping time in here! [ 1995-10-14 - Pete Tong ]
I remember taping this and listening to it the following Sunday morning. After Pete's Ibiza mix the previous month I was expecting something a little trancier but that came via Ramoling's set. Tong played some excellent vocal house before going into harder territory via size 9's brilliant I'm ready and Josh Wink's other huge hit that year Higher State of Consciousness. As he admits mixing between these he was having trouble with a couple of mixes but I lovedTong for this. To see him behind the decks in this era he always worked bloody hard-there was hardly a time when he was still and loved to give a snippet of the next record over the one he was currently playing. OK this didn't always sound technically perfect but who cares? It was interesting to listen to and brilliant when you're there. And DJing is 90% track selection - probably 99% now anyone can do it, and Tong always knew how to work a floor. Great mix.

One missing track is the third one. Before Plux - Over & Over he teases in Lisa Marie Experience - Keep on Jumpin' (Lisa Marie's Sequential Dub before playing the original mixafterPlux. In my opinion the best version of this record is the one Tong hammered before FFFR released a watered down Bizarre Inc remix of it the following year.

Not bad for d&b, but as always not the kind of 120 min ride I would choose.

Good eclectic selection. A couple of irritating jazzy tunes, but mostly engaging chill/lounge/downbeat (more styles than that though)

More cohesive than normal, though not a fan of the cross genre tracks in the opening stretch.

'The Kings of Underground Garage'. Or should that be garbage. Skipped virtually all of it….all the same unlistenable stuff.

Billed as nu-NRG, this was a pleasant surprise. Quite light yet fast and hypnotic melodic techno beats in the first half, then heavier techno in the second half which nevertheless merges towards melodic heaviness at the end. Good mix.

Anaemic track selection until perking up far too late.

OK trance mix. Although not containing bad choices, it's missing the spark of his best mixes.

Eclectic but non-descript electronica, a bit in the vein of his CD Scape release.
