Not bad....sort of carnival/tribal crossover. Or something. |

As serp says, surprisingly fresh and different. I wonder how many people missed it because it was stuck at the end of a 4 hr broadcast. |

After a boring start (first 5 tracks) it gets much better, though with very familiar tunes. Not enough to put it on the repeat listen list. |

If anyone has a copy of ths mix I would love to have it.I did record it at that the time but it's gone missing. One of the best Digweed sets I've heard. Will cover all costs. The 'Palefield Mountain' is 'On My Way' and the 'Squelch' track is 'Crash' on Jackpot records. |

I think this is the best Breaks set the EM has had yet...it's more like a 8.5. A bit better then the Adam Freeland mix. Much more dynamic. |

a bit too 'safe' imo. i found it rather boring...radio soulwax for example was alot better. |

This one seems to improve with each listen. Over a decade has passed and it still sounds remarkably fresh. Here we have a monumentally tasty mix that moves through highly diverse lands of range, style and tempo. Spacey downtempo electro, jazzy breaks, funk, dub, old-skool hip hop, strange futuristic techno, tribal beats and some seriously slammin acid house. What's more, it all works.
Really, the more I think about it, the more respect I have for the diversity of this mix. It's like a crazy mash-up of genres that nevertheless seems logically planned. Look for early Ninja Tune, Dust Brothers, Daft Punk and Jam/Spoon in the groovier sections, while obscure, classic acid rules in the middle of the mix.
Also, as is the case with these older mixes, Tong only chimes in a few times and there are no Radio1 promotional vocals mixed into the music.
These gents were true pinoeers. Find this mix and cherish it. |

Why can't Lawler go back to playing this kind of stuff???,the music he plays now is so tame by comparison.
One of the best Essential Mixes ever imho. |

Lots of piano, lots of happy female voices. Not my cup of tea, though nothing particularly wrong technically. |

Not all of it has aged well, but a good mix. |

Good enough essential...bit overkill with the star wars malarky but sppose given the new films due out & middleton anyhow ..that is sorta the point but still ...overkilled it a bit with the films spoken word extracts ...Reasonably well put all together anyhow . Decent-ish tunes with some topnotch old skool electro amongst some not so-decentish newish tunes and boots..Still its fun and sits together well . |

Good 'fun' mix with lots of variation.
Way too many quotes from the film in the beginning though. Less is more. |

An interesting tech-house/electro mix that ultimately doesn't get a higher rating because of too many average or thuddy tracks…but not bad at all. |
