 Information
Welcome to this site, here you can find the Radio One Essential Mix archives, ever since 1993 when it first broadcasted, up until today, and for the future. In time there will be features added for "artist in residence" which will be a profile of a DJ/Producer we will pick each month, and give you information about them and what they are doing now.

The page is updated by atleast a few people, so it is always up to date.

not really a fan of trancey stuff much anymore (thats what i would classify this as anyway), these guys put on a great set. Well impressed, enjoyed it very much!

shoayb_makda writes: tiesto is useless! [ 2005-04-24 - DJ Tiesto, Live from Disneyland Paris ]
well ive been saying it all along tiesto is cheese and does not deserve the number 1 dj spot!there are far better talents in this world than him and can play better stuff than cheese maestro number 1..its only coz he plays at DISNEY LAND that he gets that number one spot..following oakeys route to becoming a commercial prick..

wiggy writes: dave clarke hits the big time [ 1994-06-11 - Dave Clarke ]
truly awesome mix, right from the of, it has a sample of ""dave clarke the baron of techno... for those who know the differnce"
and "yo dave kick the bass" layered thru out the mix... magical, ahead of its time, still good today... well done john peel for givin dc the air time...notice how many records mr clarke crams into the mix... proper dj...

Great stuff, as the first comment says it's excellent 'progressive trance'. The third last track sounds like a big mistake though.

How is this guy the #1 DJ?? Talk about cheezy trance, enough this shite, horrible, the worst essential mix of the 21st century, I'd rather listen to oakenfold's new cd Great Wall than this crap.....BOOOOOO

Fantastic stuff. Standouts are the Barrington Levy and Nicolette tracks.

Dabizas writes: Totally Inspiring [ 1999-03-28 - Paul Oakenfold ]
This mix is by far one of if not the best Oakenfold mix. The opening track 'Highlander' just grabs you and the rest of the mix doesn't let go. I had made a recording off Radio One and managed to keep it for about 3 years before letting someone else use it and consequently ruin it. I would absolutely love to be able to get my hands on it again......

This mix made me laugh at the start. He starts with some kind of robot voice going on about audio system setup....then BOSH BOSH BOSH BOSH for the rest of the mix.

Not as bad as I feared it was going to be, though not very good either and by no means one I will go back to.
As for marking it a 1 when you haven't even listened - just be aware it means that people ignore every rating you make on this site, and I've noticed you slinging 1s on a lot of other mixes as well. I don't even like hard house either, but that kind of behaviour takes the piss. Clown.

A shame that this one is just 30 mins tucked away at the end of the EM. This one was the best of the four.

irv writes: Sunny days mix [ 2005-02-27 - Krafty Kuts ]
Really good mix, starts off dirty, then goes organic through the middle, then back to dirty at the end again. The only problem I have with Krafty is that once he likes a tune he uses it in his mixes all the time ie. SCAM - good tune, and from what I can remember he had something to do with the production but it's just a tiny bit overused now. But I'm nitpicking, that aside top quality stuff! Nice one Krafty!

I wasn't sure about the MC at first, but grew to like it. Good d&b mix - a 'feelgood' mix.
