Welcome to this site, here you can find the Radio One Essential Mix archives, ever since 1993 when it first broadcasted, up until today, and for the future. In time there will be features added for "artist in residence" which will be a profile of a DJ/Producer we will pick each month, and give you information about them and what they are doing now.

The page is updated by atleast a few people, so it is always up to date.

Good mix, with some noticeable highlights (mostly discussed above). I'm not sure whether it's just my copy, but the sound seems to lack a bit of 'oomph'.

I don't like giving mixes a 10 unless they are exceptional which this one is Ben Watt's sound just epitomizes the word cool he's come along way from his "everything but the girl" days modern house at its best.

Yeah ive got a copy email me i'll sort you out.

Wow Desyn has certainly created a storm.
This mix is far from shit I wouldn't say desyn is the best dj in the world but he is definatley a pioneer. if your a euphoric trance nut who takes to much ecstacy then don't bother with this one it will just bore you
if your a house connoisseur with abit of soul then Desyn Masiello's your man.

 mufc70 writes: SLAM? Yes you're totally right!! [ 2004-09-05 - Slam ]
A couple of pioneers, try saying that after a few beers! Yes Tongy hit the nail right on the head, these two are a couple of pioneers!! Its great to hear some scottish dj's getting the recognition that they rightly deserve. Having featured on the essential mix a number of times, its certainly no accident these boys are at the top of their game. The set was a lovely flowing techno set that had me nodding my head and tapping my foot for the whole 120 minutes and the only downside was that it had to finish!! Seriously though, the mixing perhaps wasn't up to their usual standards but hey we're all human. Guys can't wait to hear another wicked set. See you on the dance floor!!!

mufc70 writes: These guys are out there alone!! [ 2004-05-09 - Sasha and Digweed, at Renaissance ]
This was my first listen to an essential mix for a number of years, but boy it didnt disappoint me. These two dj's are definately up there with the best in the world. The way they played the old classics from a decade ago along with some current tunes almost made me wet myself!!! Big up to "the man like" alexander coe and diggers, keep dropping the tunes and keep a whole nation with a huge smile on their faces!!!

You can always expect a solid performance from these 2 quality Djs! The first time i heared it only a few tunes really stood out for me but after listening to it again and again, i must say it started to grow on me and keeps you rocking all the way! Love the way out west track 3/4 of the way through! Simply brilliant! I remember the 2nd time i listened to this set i went to bed with the earphones on after a few lonely beers in the house! It was a Saturday Night and i was so chuffed the next morning that i stayed in an listened to this rather than going out an listening to the fucking usual headbanging pish that this society loves and adores! Fucking Stoners! Keep fighting the good fight folks!!!

mufc70 writes: Lacklustre effort! [ 2004-08-29 - Deep Dish, Live at Creamfields ]
I, like celtic scott was at creamfields and i also missed the deep dish set due to soaking in the tunez at the mtv dance arena tent. I did however get a copy of the cd and if i am perfectly frank i havent listened to it much and i dont expect to really be motivated to listen to it again. My mates dad has listened to a set by Deep Dish and he calls them cheap pish!! I would have to agree with my mates old man on this occasion!! Deep Dish you are both legendary and can do better! Cmon!

 matrix writes: Enjoyable. [ 2002-01-13 - H Foundation ]
I like this one. The music is good and although there's not a lot of variation, I can't decide whether this is good or bad. On the one hand it makes the transitions less noticeable, on the other there's no 'journey'.

I suspect this is one to give a few listens to. Unfortunately, not possible with over 600 Essential Mixes to get through!

celticscott writes: Overrated [ 2004-08-29 - Deep Dish, Live at Creamfields ]
I was at the fields of Cream but unfortunetly i didnt get to listen to this live as i was too busy listening to dave seaman and sasha in another tent, i was really looking forward to hearing this mix and when i finally did i was very dissapointed, there is no doubt that Deep Dish played a bouncing set but i have still havent heared too much stuff as good as there Global Underground releases! Big shoutto Old Dirty Fraser who enjoyed the beautiful Mexican Woodbine in the Dance Arena! He is a major raver! A big UP URS! to Nick Warren who wouldnt sign an autograph for me! TWAT!

 Turn_Off writes: [ 2005-03-27 - Gabriel & Dresden, Live from Miami WMC ]
The mix starts out extremely smoothly and transitions into high enery, mid tempo tracks very quickly including some of the nicer vocal mixes of current club tracks.

If you listen closely you can hear Pete Tong get onto the mic and emcee a message that's like "the cops are gonna shut down the place because we are having too much fun."
