Welcome to this site, here you can find the Radio One Essential Mix archives, ever since 1993 when it first broadcasted, up until today, and for the future. In time there will be features added for "artist in residence" which will be a profile of a DJ/Producer we will pick each month, and give you information about them and what they are doing now.

The page is updated by atleast a few people, so it is always up to date.

Excellent, excellent mix. Can't believe I've only just listened to it for the first time.

matrix writes: Quite good. [ 2004-10-03 - Desyn Masiello ]
I liked this one, but it didn't catch for me like it did for some of you.

Great that there are so many votes and so many comments, just a shame that the comments are not really backed up by much coherent debate. It's crap, no it's great, no it's crap etc etc. Can't see how it rates as low as a 2 though...I've only ever rated one mix that low - Eddie Halliwell white noise mix!

P.S. What brought me back here was listening to the King Unique mix later in the year (because of a common track)...I prefer that one so far.

matrix writes: Fantastic stuff. [ 2005-01-02 - Radio Soulwax ]
Very very good. The last quarter goes in a style that I like a little less, but nonetheless an excellent mix.

synkboy writes: No flow [ 2000-12-31 - Judge Jules ]
There is no continuity in this mix at all,
he just throws tunes together with no thought at all of constructing a set.

Awful.

 synkboy writes: Ok [ 1997-09-28 - Pete Tong ]
Mixing is non existant at times.
But this includes some killer tracks, such as "Los ninos del parque".

Was good for me though this night as I met my girlfriend on this night and am still with her.

Atmosphere as always was white hot,as this was Pete Tong's Northern Irish debut.

synkboy writes: Not bad [ 2001-03-18 - Pete Tong, Live at Kell's, Port Rush ]
One of Tongs better mixes, although I might be biased as I was there and the famous Lush atmosphere was electric that night.

His messing around with the crossfader was just as irritating in the club as it is on the mix listening back to it.

Not bad.

matrix writes: very good [ 1994-05-28 - Billy Nasty ]
...but I agree that it suffers a bit from being disjointed.

Any DJ or Producer thats been around for a while knows that this is ridiculously good. Even if the track selection isn't up your alley (But its so diverse there has to be something here for everyone) you just know that this is top notch production!

I'm loving the Dominator Vs Cubik track, my favorite hoover track together with an old skool classic at last!

 jimmimixmasta writes: [ 2004-08-22 - Scratch Perverts ]
dunno man, I saw them at Chibuku in liverpool in october and they were just trying to cram too much variation in... this is the same. not saying diversity is a bad thing, but y'know... too many chefs spoil the broth kind of thing...

Quite hard for me to rate this one. Tuned in and out of the first hour. Really quite enjoyed the second hour, though suspect that for me personally this mix is one to put on only when in the mood.

Definitely worth a listen for people to make up their own mind. I'm crap at saying what it is....melodic techno?

Poor quality of my recording may influence my mark....but usual up and down nature of Tong's mixes.

 matrix writes: [ 2004-12-12 - Roni Size ]
Not too keen on the first 4 tracks, especially the pompous "This is the sound of Roni Size" crap, but the rest of the mix is damn good.

Chef De Party writes: Jose mix [ 1997-09-07 - Jose Padilla ]
I think this mix tracklisting is incomplete There's at least two records on the first half which are not listed including the track with the Stevie wonder sample and also the track which follows it.

matrix writes: Vocal House [ 1994-01-29 - Graeme Park ]
All depends on whether you like this particular brand of vocal house. Not for me.
