 funkbunny303 writes: one of the best [ 1995-04-23 - Portishead ]
One of the best mixes i've ever heard. Starts out with a classic, dark, trip-hop portishead groove, then just explodes all over the place with a killer hip-hop second half. A true 'essential mix' in that it is essential to have this set, and that the records they manage to mix in come from so many different styles and time periods. Absolutely brilliant how they pull this one off.

 funkbunny303 writes: love it [ 1996-02-04 - Darren Emerson & Underworld ]
I've only got the cut-off (1.5hr) version of this mix, but i still love it. Deep, Dark, Funky, and Sexy. I'd reccommend for any old school techno, house, or tech-house fans, and certainly for Underworld fans. They have a style all their own that has been imitated, but never matched. A great set from one of the greatest electronic artists of all time.

 funkbunny303 writes: b-boy stance! [ 1998-02-08 - Freestylers ]
great mix from the Freestylers here. True to their game, they deliver a practically perfect set, with mixing and scratching to impress the toughest of DJ critics. Track selection is varied, from breaks, hip hop and rap, to old skewl dancehall, techno, disco, drum and bass, and even a lil hard house towards the end. These guys can truly rock a party of any flavor. Very old school vibe to the whole set, with many tracks that even non-dance fanatics will recognize, and can groove to. I highly reccommend this set to anyone with a funky bone.

 funkbunny303 writes: good set [ 2001-09-09 - DJ Tiesto ]
best set i've heard from Tiesto so far (can anyone reccommend any better ones? i've heard soooo much hype about Tiesto, but he has yet to deliver for me)...this set in particular, very nice start, good mixing, appropriate use of popular tracks, and an overall mellow, but uplifting and progressive vibe to it. oh, and i agree, the xpress 2 smoke machine track doesn't really fit in, and can be a bit grating. Overall though, a pretty good mix in my opinion

 funkbunny303 writes: beautiful [ 2002-04-28 - Roger Sanchez ]
Killer set from Sanchez here. Deep, funky, soulful, and very classy. Lots of emotion here, made possible by many vocal track selections, but, he pulls it off incredibly well by varying the vocal styles, and not letting it get into a repetitive mode. a must have for house fans.

 funkbunny303 writes: great mix [ 2002-05-05 - Pete Tong @ Coachella Festival, California ]
This is a great set, imo. Anyone that thinks, or might have thought, that Pete was losing his touch or wasn't a top DJ should listen to this one for sure. Granted, all dj's go through their ups and downs, good days and bad, but, Pete has remained consistent throughout the years, for the most part. He knows his crowds, and how to work them, and that's what being a DJ is truly about imo. As for the set itself, i agree that it is indeed very progressive, and has a unique quality to it. He shifts styles a few times, and makes the transitions almost flawlessly. He keeps it laid back, but funky enough to move your body to, and its got a bit of a psychedellic influence to it. Perfect set for the Coachella festival.

 funkbunny303 writes: Good mix, considering... [ 2002-08-11 - Pete Tong @ Space, Ibiza ]
If i just heard this set without knowing when and where it was mixed at, i'd be pretty bored by it. The track selection is, for the most part, extremely overplayed, commercialized junk, however, this WAS a closing set at Space in Ibiza, at the end of summer, so, it makes sense to play a retrospective, memory provoking set with songs that were heard a million times that summer. Overall, a good job with those tracks though, a very dirty, low end sound throughout, and a brilliant finish with the U2 track. Also, the crowd noises really help this set, they were obviously really digging it. Once again, Pete Tong shines by knowing his audience, and what to play for the occasion at hand.

funkbunny303 writes: better, but not good [ 2003-03-23 - Sandra Collins, Miami (Live) ]
definitely better than Pete's set from the same party, though, it still falls quite short for me. i've seen sandra live several times and know that she can throw down much, much better than this

 funkbunny303 writes: so-so [ 2003-03-23 - Pete Tong, Miami (Live) ]
a pretty boring mix in my opinion, definitely far from Pete's best

 funkbunny303 writes: love it [ 2003-05-11 - Adam Freeland ]
Glad to hear everyone else seems to like this mix as much as i do. It's funky ascan be, technically proper, and, above all for me, is the track selection. It's one thing to mix well, but, to get across a message like Freeland does in this at the same time, that's something totally different. I'd like to hear more mixes with meaning to them from different artists. I'd say this is a must have for anyone's collection.

 funkbunny303 writes: killer mix [ 2003-06-22 - DJ Yoda & Greenpeace's Beach Tape ]
A perfect 10 across the board, imo. Mixing is absolutely sick, in track selection, technical skills, everything. One of the best mixes i've ever heard. If you're a DJ, this will make you want to do one of 2 things--practice until you're as good as these guys, OR sell all your gear and look for a day job.

Malone Zone writes: Question...... [ 1994-12-18 - Paul Oakenfold ]
Wonder if anyone can help me out....

Was listening to Bladerunner album

http://www.discogs.com/release/243159

and realised that What is listed as '04. Rachel's song' is played on the gold disc....which would equate as the 2nd hour of the essential mix. Can someone please clear up that it has/has not been omitted from the tracklistings.

The track im talkiing about is @ roughly 26mins on the golddisc which would mean it would be around where 'Marmion - 'Schoneberg' (Pure Energy) would appear

thanks in advance
