Welcome to this site, here you can find the Radio One Essential Mix archives, ever since 1993 when it first broadcasted, up until today, and for the future. In time there will be features added for "artist in residence" which will be a profile of a DJ/Producer we will pick each month, and give you information about them and what they are doing now.

The page is updated by atleast a few people, so it is always up to date.

how does he work harder than any other mainstream dj? you never seen morillo, roger sanchez, dave clarke, deep dish, sasha or digweed.

They work hard

Oh and his scratcjing is very very poor

Alex writes: Too Obvious [ 2000-10-01 - Lisa Lashes ]
Not a bad mix as such. The choices are just too obvious though. Nearly all are big hard house tunes from that month and most are from tidy trax. Jon Doe 'NRG' is probably the best thing on there. Use a little imagination next time, Lisa.

Alex writes: Tracklisting needed [ 2003-06-29 - Mr C, Erol Alkan, Layo & Bushwacka ]
Could anybody tell me if a tune called 'bushfire' was played on this mix. Has vocal which goes'I am the creator'.

t2reverse writes: anyone know the unknown track titled 'cry'? [ 2002-04-28 - Roger Sanchez ]
probably one of the few songs with a male voice which sounds very emotional and incredible!

dersuuzala writes: great mix [ 1997-09-21 - BT (Brian Transeau) ]
i believe this was mixed by someone other than bt like his other effort for the essential mix. bt & sasha - wherez my bitch = 2 phat cunts - ride

love the beginning of the second half where he gets into the filthy breaks a la single cell orchestra.

 dersuuzala writes: decent [ 1997-12-28 - Photek ]
i like photek's tracks so the mix was decent, but mother is a fucking 40 minute track. really lost me at the end.

this is one of the best live sets i've heard, i used to listen to this all the time a couple years ago.

 MeSsEm writes: [ 2003-05-04 - Eddie Halliwell ]
Eddie Halliwell is a legend, this mix is amazing considering the pressure he was under! he works much harder than any other mainstream dj i have ever seen, and i dont think ne 1 else else in the world can scratch like that, hes unique!

 not-forgotten writes: [ 2001-12-30 - Judge Jules Retrospective ]
I can't agree more with the earlier statements. It sounds like he's grabbed a few records from home with no thought, crashed them together in a mix of which he was probably taking more time standing in the mirror working on his little poetic ryhmes he feels so justified in making everytime a mic is near him. The sad thing is, 94-96 he would have put toghter a much tighter mix - seems like he's gone backwards since he sold out ot trance!

 not-forgotten writes: [ 2003-08-31 - Radio Slave ]
....sorry m8 - but that was my opinion - i tend to go for 80% music/20% mixing - I would expect the mixing standard to be high at this level. I just thought this showcased the quality of their work and to me it's the second best EM this year, hence the score. I don't vote on the mixing if I don't like the music - Mr Oakendfold!

 Burkey writes: First track.. [ 1999-02-14 - Sasha ]
The first track of this mix was Paginini Trax - "Zoe (Timo Maas Mix)", which is missing from the above tracklist

matrix writes: Good but not great. [ 1996-06-23 - Dave Seaman & Steve Anderson (Brothers In Rhythm) ]
This is a solid mix...but I find there are a few too many 'epic' tracks - where you like them but you're actually waiting for the bit you like in them rather than all the preamble. imho .

Tiesto world nr 1? As a sales-manager, yes...
