 Information
Welcome to this site, here you can find the Radio One Essential Mix archives, ever since 1993 when it first broadcasted, up until today, and for the future. In time there will be features added for "artist in residence" which will be a profile of a DJ/Producer we will pick each month, and give you information about them and what they are doing now.

The page is updated by atleast a few people, so it is always up to date.

 seeker writes: typical [ 2002-05-19 - Derrick Carter ]
hey paulcee,

sounds like a typical Radio 1 SNAFU. the tracklistings posted there (which are thence copied here) are quite often incomplete, incorrectly ordered, or just plain wrong.

you can't really fault black et al. the problem originates futher upstream, either with the djs themselves, or the folks at the BBC.

seeker writes: nice one [ 2002-06-09 - Michel De Hey ]
i like this mix. it's quite funky, building slowly to full pace at around 20 min or so. touches on several different styles of techno, but never loses a classy and (as already mentioned) funky feel.

kinda reminded me of christian smith.

 Origen writes: suprisingly refreshing [ 2002-06-02 - Pete Tong @ Homelands ]
Was anyone else suprised by Pete's set at Homelands? I was actually in London at the time, and was debating the drive down to Winchester for the festival, and his set makes me doubt my decision to stay! Track selection was *top notch*, and his mixing wasn't half bad.

Styarc writes: Tracktimes with [ 2002-06-09 - Michel De Hey ]
Really enjoyed this set and the mising is spot, unfortunately this has made it difficult for tracktimes.

Im struggling from Grain onwards, does anyone know the tracktimes before I throw this superb set out of the window.

8/10

black writes: good... [ 2002-05-05 - Pete Tong @ Coachella Festival, California ]
ive been listening to this for the last hour now and was quite surprised on the effect this mix had on me... ofcourse pete tong prooves he can DJ if he wants too, but doesnt go too deep... all about the beats and people... but it got me in the mood to dance party and jump around

guess what, im going to see seb fontaine and timo mass @ valkana beach in august... freaky.. lots of other djs too.. something like homelands.

 Styarc writes: Best mix of 3 [ 2002-06-02 - Laurent Garnier @ Homelands ]
Laurent played the best mix of the three, just beating Tiesto to the mantle, due to the fact Ive heard better from Tiesto.

The set was raw, hard and enjoyable and was a nice change. My favourites are the Stephen Brown and Layo and Bushwacka tracks. Well on first listen anyway.

Tiesto vs Junkie XL - 'Obsession' (Nebula)
Accessive Rhythm - Activate
Mass Effect - 'Aplphascan' (Bonzai Ltd)
Way Out west - 'Mind Circus (Gabriel and Dresden Mix)' (Distinctive Breaks)
DJ Tiesto - 'Lethal Industry' (Magik Music)

Kaizyn writes: BT should stick to live sets.. [ 2002-05-05 - BT @ Coachella Festival, California ]
Well, here's a DJ set by BT. Having had the pleasure of hearing one of his live sets featuring all his own music, this isn't very impressive by comparison. Jackson's Jeans adds a little variety to an otherwise undistinguished set. The Dreaming remix (Eric Kupper's Unreleased/Alternative Mix?) dropped 2 points from this set's score. This track probably blew up the crowd.. still though *yawn*.
