starts of chilled and deep..then it sounded like he played some retro electonica sounding tracks ( late 80s-early 90s)and then it got back to the deeper stuff..

i wish he just stayed deeper and chilled all the way..

black writes: cool mix [ 2002-02-03 - Jori Hulkkonen ]
too housy to be called "my cup of tea" but i really like some parts, and the mixing is pretty much spot-on, although average on some parts..

sunglasses at night definetly rock , in generally i like the second part better.. but overall, not that high on my list..

 black writes: well.. [ 2002-01-20 - James Holden ]
i do have to agree a bit with synkboy, but i dont think it was that bad quality mixing, afterall, he only screwed up once or twice, and even that to an extent barely noticable.

i'll take holden over jules type screwups anyday.

 LHB writes: Absorbing [ 2002-01-20 - James Holden ]
This is one of the few essential mixes that I've listened to from beginning to end in one sitting. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there weren't as many deep progressive tracks as I was expecting; instead James explored a wide variety of sounds. I think he did a much better job than Cass & Slide's rather disjointed mix.

Synkboy obviously didn't hear this one because the mixing was done digitally and it was perfect. The downside is that the spontaneity and human feel of a live mix is lost, but it allows for more control and creativity overall. I think this is probably why I was so captivated by it, as the tracks really did blend seamlessly. It's a cliche, but yes, he took me on a journey. =)

I'm still not really convinced about the production quality of James' own tracks, but in the right context (i.e. this mix) they work really well. Nice.
