synkboy writes: gotta agree with you mate!!!!!!!!!!!!! [ 1999-08-01 - Seb Fontaine ]
what a fantastic mix from start to finish my favourite tracks on the mix are:

smith and selway - move
system f - out of the blue(mauro picotto mix)
hardy heller and stefano labelle - slapbang

the only downer being the inclusion of the horrendous remix of binary finary at the end which was butchered by ferry corsten, but even that can't take away from this stunning mix which even today is on constant rotation in my cd player!!

......needs to learn how to mix,the mixing in most places was very shoddy, compared with most of the other prog dj's around at the moment!!!!!!!

black writes: the horror.. [ 2001-12-30 - Judge Jules Retrospective ]
this is what radio1 gave us for new years?

they should be shot. The Judge singlehandedly delivered a timetravel which just put me now back to 96' or something, and i really didnt want to be there,..

retrospective my ass, if you want to do that, then play oldies-goldies like you acctualy know what youre doing. my winamp playlist can provide a better set if i put it on crossfade and shuffle.

MaX writes: hell yeah. [ 2002-01-20 - James Holden ]
Well the mix would be a 10 .. if sir James would not make my stomach ache... with the last two tracks like Black here already said. And that ... midnight in europe ... I mean what tha hell was that? Getting into the mellow mood with telepopmusik-breathe. and then stabbing me in the forehead(I've got a big forehead so that 's hard to miss ;]) with an icepick. Anywayz beside some obvious glitches the mix is very enjoyable. It gets an 8 from my side...

hodensaft writes: yummy [ 1995-09-24 - BT (Brian Transeau) ]
hearing pete tong introduce "a man called bt" is so funny. if you can get your hands on them, listen to the difference between the introductions he gets for this mix and the one he did in 1997. you can tell the level of respect went through the roof.

but anyway, about the mix, in bt's normal form, there's no real genre to it. it's got everything. the intro makes for a nice effect, but it goes on a little long for my tastes. but from there it just takes off. this man actually had the balls to spin a smashing pumpkins tune - not a remix, this thing might as well be straight off the cd.

hodensaft writes: *no comment* [ 1994-12-18 - Paul Oakenfold ]
i almost feel kinda guilty giving other mixes perfect 10s, like it cheapens the perfect score of this one. this is also known as the goa mix, and seven years later it's still one of the finest examples of the genre available. lots of people have probably heard it without realizing it - the first part (that's right, there were no tuner cards in 1994 so everything got recorded to tape) is frequently traded around the net as 'goa mix silver'.

hodensaft writes: good lord. [ 1999-08-01 - Seb Fontaine ]
this has to be one of the best mixes i've heard. house with beats so thick you could slice them with a steak knife, flawlessly blended with some fine trance. the opening track is one of the best house tunes i've heard, and i love the mix of out of the blue.

hodensaft writes: tracklist inaccurate [ 1994-12-11 - Massive Attack ]
This is the same tracklist that mixmag put out back in the day, but best I can tell, it's wrong. For one, Sly doesn't come on until about the 60 minute mark of the mix. If anyone's got the complete, accurate mix, let somebody know.

black writes: good show from tiesto [ 2001-09-09 - DJ Tiesto ]
I somehow feel this was kind of a breaking point in the essential mixes last year, introduction for nick warren, john 00 flemming, and in 2002, james holden... it all fits together, and this is absolutely uber-cool... smoke machine might be a bit much in there, but then you could say the same for iio - rapture, but when you listen to it, its the exact oposite, it only leaves you wondering how it can get any better.

viva la tiesto

black writes: now this is good [ 2001-09-30 - Nick Warren ]
imo, as good as it gets.. a bit empty at times, but that is like a 5-10 second period, this mix is fabulous from start to end,.. and I noticed Solstice from James Holden in there again.. seems everybody I like is playing it, it just doesnt want to go away.

and I dont want it to go away

black writes: this is what he is good at :) [ 2002-01-20 - James Holden ]
nice mix, personally looses it at the end, getting all too housy for what was played before that, and i could DEFINETLY do without the last two tracks he played

 black writes: Pretty nice mix [ 2001-11-11 - John '00' Flemming ]
Played Solstice by James Holden, I think the first who did that on an EMix.. everybody seems to be playing in now..

The mix itself looses focus a bit at the second half i guess, thats why one point down, that Moon Project track and afterwards Flaming June kinda ruin the rest of the mix. Maybe a more mellow version of Flaming June would be better (or something in the line of BT - Dreaming (Lucid Mix))
