sissil, that is amazing, thanks a LOT for that list! Any idea what the track at 96:30 could be? It's based on Salsoul Orchestra - Ooh, I Love It.

 RR78 writes: Poor.. [ 1998-01-25 - Seb Fontaine ]
I really was expecting a rip-roarer from Seb here, but this mix struggled to get out of 2nd gear.
I liked Seb's style at this time (and up to about mid-2001), but if you compare this to the live Gatecrasher mix from 12/97 they are like chalk and cheese even though some tracks are used in both mixes.
Though Seb could've upped the pace a lot more in the 2nd hour...

 RR78 writes: Different league [ 1997-10-19 - Paul Oakenfold ]
A true legend; Paul Oakenfold. Not like any set he'd done before, different to the Goa Mix from 12/94 and again from Fluoro Mix 10/96, this was a different side to Oakey, but you gotta have faith cos this set, in its own right, is absolutely superb. Don't go expecting big tunes, banging baselines, this was different class. The downtempo theme, the film soundtrack excerpts, all knit together to give us something amazing!
Another Oakenfold masterpiece.

 RR78 writes: It's a close one! [ 1999-01-03 - Scott Bond ]
This gave his May 98 mix a run for it's money. 2 hours of the biggest trance tunes of the time and it'll never let you down!
Back when trance was ruling the clubs, airwaves and festivals, BRING BACK THOSE DAYS. Makes todays music lokk pretty lame IMHO.

 RR78 writes: Oakey - Cream - Courtyard.. [ 1998-10-11 - Paul Oakenfold ]
Say no more! Feeeeeeel the energy, the crowd lap this up and Oakey just lets rip for an hour of mastery from the legend, one of my fave live essential mixes of all time.
Oakey, Oakey, Oakey - ah the memories! Never forget Cream, Courtyard, the people, truly awesome!

 RR78 writes: Lawler on the money [ 1998-12-27 - Steve Lawler ]
This made my xmas break a whole lot better, I really enjoyed this mix, love the way Steve builds this set and the Moody & Make Up Your Mind tunes, blew me away in the first hour.
He has never disappointed live or on the essential mix, top drawer stuff.

 RR78 writes: Top notch! [ 1998-05-24 - Scott Bond ]
Scotty Bond you little beauty! Back in 1998 trance music was really coming to the fore and this mix exemplifies all that was good in trance at the time, remember dancing my nut off to these tunes throughout the summer of 98 (and beyond). Binary Finary, For An Angel, La, El Nino etc. etc.
Q-Dos was the weakest track in this mix, but a pumping 2 hours!

 RR78 writes: Hidden gem [ 1996-03-17 - Billy Nasty ]
If you've not heard this you really out to search it out. This has lots of energy, tribal, dark, dirty and down right techno heaven. Got a little *cough* repetitive towards the end, but a thoroughly enjoyable 2 hours.
Seem to remember this clashing with a Bruno/ Tyson/ Naseem Hamed fight, although we are talking 15 years back.
Gonna have to give this a listen again soon, me thinks!

RR78 writes: Oakey does it yet again! [ 1994-03-19 - Paul Oakenfold ]
Although this was only his second ever essential mix, for me this is one of his best. Middle hour is superb, full on trance.
It's a mix I keep coming back to time and again, still sounds surprisingly fresh seeing as though it is 17 years old now!!
Would have given it a 10 had he not played Floor Essence so painfully slowly and finishing with Insane... didn't seem right to me.
All in all though, Oakey in his pomp!

 RR78 writes: Happy memories! [ 1995-12-17 - John Kelly ]
This was one the first essential mixes I ever recorded! I missed the first 5-10 mins, didn't get home in time to press record on the tape deck but had it on in the car!
This tracklisting is one I actually put together about 9 years ago and uploaded to the old tracklistings.org website (site seems to have disappeared now though.
Anyway, I had a stab at the tracklist as it was not published in Mixmag/ Muzik mags at the time. The first tune was actually Sam Ellis Club Lonely (as featured on Cream Live 1, Graeme Park CD).
If anyone knows some of the tunes, please let us all know.
Tune of the whole mix is one i have down as "Energy", its about 30 mins in, and it rocks!

 RR78 writes: Missing tunes [ 1994-06-04 - Jeremy Healey ]
Great mix from the one and only, no-one can throw tunes together like this man!! Some dodgy "mixing", some decent mixing (middle hour), all in all good mix.
Just wondering where the first 30 mins tracklist is. Only JH could get away with this but he plays a cheesy version of Nirvana "Teen Spirit" follows by Zero B Lock Up and then straight into the real Nirvana Teen Spirit track. First 30 mins also includes Awesome 3's "Don't go". Anyone got the definitve listing???
