 Information
Welcome to this site, here you can find the Radio One Essential Mix archives, ever since 1993 when it first broadcasted, up until today, and for the future. In time there will be features added for "artist in residence" which will be a profile of a DJ/Producer we will pick each month, and give you information about them and what they are doing now.

The page is updated by atleast a few people, so it is always up to date.

i gave it a 7 cuz at least, it did move my head here and there...and its the most exciting EM in a while...other than that, i'm not really into what's happening with the music scene as of late, and especially with the EM's.....can they just start playing old EM's from 1997? it better pick up with the next few, or I might turn off RADIO 1 for good.

Even if I didn't like this mix (which I actually do like) this lives up to the spirit of Essential mixes. Balls out, a special mix of your best, not just some club night where the dj played better than average. Awesome mix.

I love the deep dish style, they got so much quality in their music! great mix, surely one of the best 2006!!!

The tracklisting is completely wrong in places ... in fact the first five or six tracks listed here (and on the BBC website) are not on this mix at all. Does anyone know what tracks 4 & 5 are actually called or who they are by?

Decent enough, but a tad predictable with Belfast etc being played on almost every mix of thi kind over the years.

Another DJ that couldn't stick to cd-js/decks and now with the help of ableton etc churns out messes like this on an all too regular basis.

Absolutely abysmal.

Thought this was quite a good mix, only criticism is that he left it a bit too late at the end to pick it up as it really does rock towards the end....should have upped the pace around the 90 minute mark though.

Still though, a nice surprise for me as I never really rated him that highly in the past.

I don't think the tracklisting given here, though, is in any particular order. Which is annoying.

A superb selection of very diverse tunes and music mixed together in a way that make you wonder what's coming next. One of my favourite all time essential mixes.

This mix was pale compared to their 2001 mix. It just didn't go anywhere for me.

get their 2001 Emix, a good representation of what they were doing with their marathon 7 hour sets @ Fabric residency.

Not as good as Playboy mansion, but still a good retromixup from Dim

Simply beautiful,a great mix that sounds just as good 10 years on.

A classic in the truest sense.

 Bongoloid writes: Faker [ 1996-06-16 - Erick Morillo ]
This guy is a wanker...

A dancer I know said he took her and a mate out on his boat (No strings...) then got ono this beach and tried to get them both to do him... she said he looked like a dwarf with down syndrome...

He get's other people to make tracks for his label, then goes about like it's all him... I hate people like that. He plays whatevers in vogue. No style of his own at all.

Sometimes only mudslinging will do.

 Bongoloid writes: FunCox [ 1999-08-15 - Carl Cox ]
Coxy mixes up a perfect terrace treat with these funky/tribal tunes... would have danced all night to this...

 Bongoloid writes: [ 1999-12-12 - DJ Dan ]
Dj Dan is a great DJ. Saw smash it @ his Fabric residency... and @ Ministry in 99.

Mixed up nicely, but does go rather dull midway for a few tunes, building steam again til the end.

Ballistic Mystic!!! Can never find this Track
