Welcome to this site, here you can find the Radio One Essential Mix archives, ever since 1993 when it first broadcasted, up until today, and for the future. In time there will be features added for "artist in residence" which will be a profile of a DJ/Producer we will pick each month, and give you information about them and what they are doing now.

The page is updated by atleast a few people, so it is always up to date.

 matrix writes: Tracklist
Th etracklist above has the two halves in the wrong order I think. The mix starts with D'Enrico - It Was Meant To Be.

 matrix writes: Brings back memories
Hesitating between an 8/10 and a 9/10.
Very recognisable as being (nearly) 10 years old, but this mix has got a lot of energy.

 Disco-Stu writes:
Not bad hard house, better when it gets a bit trancey. Whatever the track is with "can you see, can you see, can you see..." 20 mins into 'part 1' is top notch.

 adcashmo writes: Amazing stuff
This is quality....I discovered this around 2000/2001 when I started listening to the kind of Hard House which was around at the time. I didn't really appraciate it then as it wasn't quite 'hard' enough.

After growing up a bit and giving it a few more listens I now appreciate that this is 10x better than the newer HH that followed TDV's death in 1998. It's not the relentless hoovers, nails-hard beats and silliness (although that was great fun at the right place and time), it's a really well-constructed set which was totally groundbreaking for its time (compare it to ANY of the other E-mixes from 1995 or even TDV's 1996 and 1997 Global Underground releases!) and actually has some amazing spine-tingling moments.

For example......just how good is "Version Two - Skychild's Taccata"?? I've never heard this played by anyone else and it really stands out as one of those "OMG what the hell is this?" tracks....somehow I know exactly how people would feel hearing this live at that '3am moment'....
