Welcome to this site, here you can find the Radio One Essential Mix archives, ever since 1993 when it first broadcasted, up until today, and for the future. In time there will be features added for "artist in residence" which will be a profile of a DJ/Producer we will pick each month, and give you information about them and what they are doing now.

The page is updated by atleast a few people, so it is always up to date.

 dersuuzala writes: great mix
i believe this was mixed by someone other than bt like his other effort for the essential mix. bt & sasha - wherez my bitch = 2 phat cunts - ride

love the beginning of the second half where he gets into the filthy breaks a la single cell orchestra.

 Disco-Stu writes:
First 20 mins OK then really puts the hammer down for the next half hour and gets messy towards the end. Recommend a listen.

 SYSTEM-J writes:
Really enjoy this mix. Unlike his 1995 effort BT really makes an effort to do an actual DJ mix here, and it has a bit of everything. He starts off very atmospheric and experimental, goes through house into some funky prog breaks, then a spot of trance before finishing on some melodic drum 'n bass. Apart from some very naff guitar-sampling house before the hour mark just about all the tracks are great with some 90s classics from Slacker, Way Out West, Fluke and co. Not many mixes out there sound like this.

One of the best of the 97 EMs... Great track selection spanning a variety of genres and flawless mixing with a lot of future classics!
