Drum & Bass was at the top of its game when Grooverifer knocked this mix out and unfortunately (in my opinion) it was all down hill from here . For me, the genre post 1998 just hasn't progressed as i'd hoped.
Anyway, this mix is a great document of a time when D&B was generally exciting and really pushing boundaries. I love the way Grooverider mixes hard and soft together - who wants to here one banging tech stepper after another. I certainly don't. Nor do i want to hear 2 hours of Bukem style D&B. So he gets the balance just right.
If you don't already own it, go and seek it out. You won't be disappointed.

Goldie did his mix in April '96 and Tong said at the end that it would keep Grooverider on his toes. Fast forward 8-9 months or so and it sounds like, to me, that 'Rider has not only blown Goldie away but reaffirms his standing in dance music as a whole. Numero Uno. Dub influenced D+B, hard step they are all here. The mixing is top notch, track selection superb. Dis is da real Don Dadda!!! |

A top mix.
There was some really good drum and bass around at the time.
A mix full of contrast too.
Like the other person mentioned above -Grooveriders tune selection varies through the light and the dark sounds of drum and bass . Some great material on here and is all effortlessly mixed nicely. |

finally d/l a complete copy of this set. as someone who used to go to jungle raves throughout the 90s i can say hand on my heart that it doesn't get much better than this. heavyweight track seleckio, sublime mixing. as 5ive-o used to say "the darth vader of the turntables, and remember, he's darker than ever. wicked mix rider!" |

Good mixing, too dark for my taste. Overall, a nice mix indicative of the time. |
