seeker writes: recently got an mp3
i had been looking casually for this mix for a long time -- roughly 2 years. i finally got it, and it was really worth the wait.

the sound is very very funky, combining breaks/techno/hip hop and house into a melange of tasty beats. moby is a pretty creative mixer as well, if not entirely smooth.

it's worth checking out if you like old school and moby.

 not-forgotten writes:
I'm from the school of thinking that mixes should be like this.

Get a crate of some of your favourite trax from all different genres and throw them together in a mix.

Not the smoothest of mixes, but enjoyable from start to finish - and sometimes a mix can sound 'real' when it isn't smooth and robotic

Moby - "Hymm" (Mute)
Orbital - "Speed Freak" (ffrr)
Michael Jackson - "Beat It" (Epic)
Blame - "Music Takes You" (Movin' Shadow)
Afrika Bambattaa & Soulsonic Force - "Planet Rock" (Tommy Boy)
Moby - "Next Is The E" (Instinct)

^^^ that section of the mix is off tap, particularly the "Michael Jackson - Beat It" mixed over "Orbital - Speed Freak". Doing interesting shit with Michael Jackson in dance music about 7 years before anyone else

 nellyphant writes: trak listing times
Just downloaded this mix for a mate of mine who's been waiting a LONG time for it!

Has anyone actually worked out the track listing times when they've split it up?

I'd be VERY grateful if anyone has!

 trip2themoon writes: Up and down.
This mix starts off great for the first 12 mins then goes cheesey and repetative for what seems like forever. But picks up again eventually. Only gets a 7 for lack of consistency. The track list is slightly wrong. near the start Next Is The E comes in before Jungle lines. Jungle Lines marks the start of a boring 30mins.

 Dugwax writes: GOOD GRIEF!!!!!
This is quite possible the best older essential mix there is. Like sum1 else said the mixing is a little shoddy in places but the combination of so many different great tunes from different genres is great. i particularly love some of the old skool traks, particularly Blame's ''music takes you'' which i have just found on 12'' on e-bay.

 matrix writes:
I agree with trip2themoon. The long patch of poor tracks just after the start means I won't be coming back to this one. There were good moments later on.
