Welcome to this site, here you can find the Radio One Essential Mix archives, ever since 1993 when it first broadcasted, up until today, and for the future. In time there will be features added for "artist in residence" which will be a profile of a DJ/Producer we will pick each month, and give you information about them and what they are doing now.

The page is updated by atleast a few people, so it is always up to date.

 black writes: like this one
Slackerman - untitled is probably Prodigy - Smack my Bitch Up (Slacker Remix) .. I've heard it somewhere before, in one of the sets i commented, and im pretty sure..

good mix, a bit dodgy at start, imo 8/10

 superock writes: Err...
This is considered to be one of their worst mixes ever recorded. I'd agree with that pretty much, and they do too...

Something about jetlag, bad slipmats and too much lager with Sasha led to the tragic set (for what I can remember)

black writes: i dont see why..
well.. i probably do.. theese are floor fillers.. tehnically the mix is okay i guess. but then, you dont have to agree with me

 Alex writes: Updates
I think JMJ - "untitled" (white label) Is actually
Jean Michael Jarre - C'est la Vie (Hybrid mix?) [sony music].

That's only a guess though. Does anybody know which of yeke yeke was played. I'm sure it's the hardfloor mix but, I heard there is a Jan Driver mix Sasha plays. I'm not sure if it's a mistake with the track name tho.

Malone Zone writes: Worst Mix? hmmmm
I wouldnt put this down as there worst mix, there is a shady mix near the start, but apart from that i couldnt fault it. I thought tune selection was fine and actually love the first track, just for the pure mayhem factor.
Also gota love Junkie XL (track or remix, cant remember which) combo with Josh Wink Vs Lil Louie.........tracks fit together like a god dam jigsaw.
The remix of the prodigy track 'black' talks about is played during Sasha Creamfields 98, and is without doubt a classic.

the jean michel jarre is ethnicolor and the mory kante is the hardfloor remix!

 synkboy writes:
The real reason behind this uncharacteristally bad set by these two was the fact they were using the new fangled Vestax turntables that Home used around that time.

Sasha hated these turntables so much that when he got sent a set to test in 1999 he threw them into the pond in his garden as they were a crock of shit.

Remember reading about this in Muzik/Mixmag or something else at the time.

A shame my copy is poor quality. Not too bad a mix...floor fillers as mentioned above. 7.5.

 adcashmo writes:
I'm sure I remember the mixing being really crap between "Live at the Crystal Palace" and "JMJ", or maybe the beats were in time but the beats on each track were so different it sounded shit.....?

 tickles23 writes:
Yeah I remember reading an interview Sasha did with Mixmag afterwards and he laid the blame for the shoddy mixing on the Vestax decks they used at Homelands that year.
