 Information
Welcome to this site, here you can find the Radio One Essential Mix archives, ever since 1993 when it first broadcasted, up until today, and for the future. In time there will be features added for "artist in residence" which will be a profile of a DJ/Producer we will pick each month, and give you information about them and what they are doing now.

The page is updated by atleast a few people, so it is always up to date.

unknown track is benni benassi - love is gonna save us.not like anyone will care as this is a useless essential mix.oakenfold was good but after 2000...well lets just say things have gone downhill!

im not really big fan of oakey, but i want to ask you all, whats the matter? I think you dont like this mix because of Benny, cuz that shit pissed off, but people, that mix was in 2003, not in 2004 and satisfaction or love is gonna save us was a new release. I agree, atempt to mix PPk was horrible, but all exept this was good.

Never mind about the 5th song request. Thanks to shoayb_makda, I know the song is 'Love Is Gunna Save Us'. Thanks for the info and I will read more carefully next time.

 richy writes: Urgh!
How can no one mention the section in the middle where he slows the tune down no end till it's over obvious and still can't get the beat right! He must have been mashed out his face!

I still listen to his mix from Sydney Australia from the time when he was good and didn't play 15 mixes of U2's back catalogue in every set.

Seems to have gone down hill since he was more bothered about releasing his own tunes.

awesome writes: It was a live mix...
First of all, it wasnīt Oakeys best mix for sure and the mixing skills donīt sound like from a top top DJ.

But, It happened to be the first ever Live-Essential Mix Iīve managed to attend and I can say easily it was one of the greatest music events I ever experienced.

I think Oakey shouldnīt be compared with himself from 1999 or so. For sure he was "better" those days. Maybe he compares himself with that days, too and that is the reason for him not to be enough motivated. It was a different time and sound unfortunately it changed.
Regrettably Iīve never had the chance to see him play 1999 and maybe that is why I can not understand some people being that disappointed of this mix.
I am glad having experienced this man live, even though not in best form and time!!!

Still got this on tape, I think I'll keep it for as longas possible as it documents Oakie going down the toilet really, good tracks with some randoms awful beatmatching and mixing,
