Good mix, though much better at the start than towards the end. Seems well thought out and inventive. |

Very promissing beggining, but after 25 mins it bacame quite monotonous, even tiring. Nothing creative till the last two tracks of the cut. Could be much better. |

Both this and Tong's Ultrafest mix were very very good.
BTW, the second track that Sander plays is called "Shout". Dunno who its by (Dr Kulcho?), but this is an old pop song thats been remixed or sampled into a more housey tune. |

ninjafury,
I think you'll find that, actually, the second track PETE TONG plays during his hour of this Essential Mix is Skylark's "Shout", a white-label that does indeed remix one of the biggest hits Tears for Fears had in the 80's. It's properly credited as such over on the tracklist for that set.
Sander's mix is the second hour of the broadcast, and his second track sounds very much like Dr. Kucho, a little bit like it could have some 80's-pop roots(*), but it sounds pretty much nothing like "Shout" by Tears for Fears.
(* - ...I'm hearing Madonna, come to think of it. That violin loop in the beginning is at least reminiscent of the intro to "Papa Don't Preach", if not directly sampled from it. No?) |
