This is one of those which tends to divide people into love it or hate it...which at least makes it interesting. Cass & Slide was another example.
For me, I love it - after spending the first 5 or 10 minutes thinking oh no what the hell is this. |

Out of all the essential mixes I have heard form the past 4+ years I have been listening. This has to be one of the most inventive by bringing together various musical styles together.
Easily a 10/10 rating
I'd love to get the tracklisting of this as well. |

Since the sun is shining outside, and since this mix is very very 'summer' .. nice
I've seen the cuban brothers in a movie acctualy.. it was called 'Gumball 3000', where they race something like from New York to LA in 5 days time, supposed to be inspired by a legendary Gumball Rally. Get the movie if you can, lots of fun stuff in there, with awesome cars.
The cuban brothers seemed very fun in the video, even if I didnt quite know what they did, but i knew it was somekind of music buisness, but I never expected them in a million years to be visiting the Essential Mix..
This year the gumball rally was beeing held in europe on May 5th, so they might have done the rally this year also, i guess i can only wait and see

I personally, as many others i'm sure did, thought this was a wicked mix. Some other people will be inclined to think that just because an EM isn't chuck full of the latest prog hits, that it's simply not worth its salt, and deserves a low vote straight away. Everyone's musical tastes change to some degree sooner or later however. So if you slept on this EM earlier because it wasn't your style at the time, go back and check it out a few years later. You might be surprised. |

Taking the view that DJs are entertainers, this mix hits the nail squarely on the head. The freestyle over Ugly Dugling is sheer comedy, the Cuban rhythms at the beginning provide some variety, and whilst the northern hospital dj gatecrashing the show mid-point seems a little contrived it is nonetheless highly original. |
