Tetsuo writes: The more things change...
I agree this mix deserves a 10 for being first, but comparing Tongie's mixing then and now, I can see nothing much has changed.. :-p

 HouseCat writes: Essential mixin
(To Tetsuo)---They don't mix EQ on the radio to my knowledge, they primarily use masterfaders so you can't judge the DJs mixing unless they were live from a club.

This E mix---It's showing it's age a little but the track selection is superb, the opening vocal at the beginning still sounds fresh, taking you on a purely oldskool journey.

If you can get hold of a copy,do so!

matrix writes: Better than I expected.
A bit happy clappy at the start (not my taste), but overall much better than I expected. A 7 for the first half and a 9 for the second half.

elmo writes: still one of the best
mixed feelings about this essential mix. some good track selection but not the best in my opinion. still, it was the first ever and it deserves a 10 for it.

 hybridfan writes:
Because this is the first it def deserves a 10 for what it has done for electronic music.

 buzziefunny writes: worth a 10
well, i felt this mix was quite well done...though not technically amazing, it did give a nice sampling of what house was/is on both ends of the spectrum...a "happy-clappy" (thx matrix!), first half, which, to me, represents a bit of where house came from, with a pretty funky ass/somewhat acidy second half...solid all the way through, and enough diversity to make the 2 hours a good listen...and it WAS the first, so props for that...

 SauceGremlin writes: Incorrectly Labeled E-mix
You Poor Fucks. This mix is by DJ Sasha, NOT Pete Tong.

Matt writes: good journey back to 93
Its true that the mixing on this mix is not up to Tong's standard of modern times but the tracklisting is full of gems from the era and a very enjoyable listen.

jbawn writes: Pete tong essential mix not sasha
what are u on about its mixed by sasha. Its clearly Pete Tong its the first essential mix ever by him. Some ok tunes. Mixing is terrible though, Some tunes just fading in and out and dont go at all together. Respect to him though, back in 93 this was probably very goodd, and i have heard some really good mixes by him recently

 hashieb2k17 writes: Historic
Recorded in a office of London Records, just Pete with two turntables, a mixer and a DAT recorder.

Terrible beat matching on the whole and just as bad mixing. alongside poor track order too.

Some good tracks though.
