 tgross79 writes: awful
How is this guy the #1 DJ?? Talk about cheezy trance, enough this shite, horrible, the worst essential mix of the 21st century, I'd rather listen to oakenfold's new cd Great Wall than this crap.....BOOOOOO

 shoayb_makda writes: tiesto is useless!
well ive been saying it all along tiesto is cheese and does not deserve the number 1 dj spot!there are far better talents in this world than him and can play better stuff than cheese maestro number 1..its only coz he plays at DISNEY LAND that he gets that number one spot..following oakeys route to becoming a commercial prick..

djwerewolf writes: Don't Believe The Hype
I was shocked to see so many 1 votes for Tiesto..... like c'mon guys, Tiesto doesn't deserve a 1 and you all know it. If some of you keep giving 1 ratings then I believe you are listening to the wrong station.

This mix wasn't the worst mix, but it wasn't the best either. Pretty average for Tiesto's s work IMO but it did have some cool tracks that I haven't heard before. As for Tiesto being #1 DJ..... I disagree, but maybe you need to see him live to get the full effect.

 tgross79 writes:
I've seen him, and NOT IMPRESSED......I have to admist his set at Zoom in israel i think in 2000 or 2001 was banging but....then he went downhill...and enough with the Sunrise compilations....He wants to suck jokenfolds dick way too much.....I wouldnt see him spin live, even if it was for free.....and he gets way too much hype from all the cheezy trance lovers, especially in the U.S. I say give satoshi tomiee or Creamer and Stephane K a chance at the essential mix!!!

 Marcin_G writes: Tiesto
I'd started my EDM journey almost from Tiesto - Live @ Innercity 99. It's probably 1 of the best trance set's I've heard to date. Since his TE 2000 set, he went totally downhill. I don't know what happen this guy but he's love & passion for music dissappeared.
I've lost the most RESPECT for this man here. Tiesto, your a cock-sucking gold digger for commercialism and that's the bottom line. You gave Trance music a bad image, you made Trance sound absolutely like the perfect Swiss cheese. Right on, great job!!!
These are probably the most harsh word's I'd say about any DJ. But it had to be said eventually from me :
My reply doesn't consist on topic but 75% of replies won't be either expect only by the n00b's. If yea don't like, ya'll can go and suck on Tiesto's record's and choke them down

steely writes: why all this fuss???
stop listening to tiesto and dont give the guy attention.. i never was a fan of tiesto
and simply dont listen to one single set

g-pal, lobsinger, satoshi tomiie, creamer, luke fair to name a few should be in the essential mix

progressive house rulezzz

 matrix writes:
Not very impressed with the mix, and certainly can't see why he's number 1 DJ as the mixing was pretty poor in my opinion. However, it's not totally offensive either - slinging 1's around with little reasoning just marks you down as somebody to discount when judging other people's comments. Can't for the life of me work out why Jon O'Bir deserves a 9 if this is a 1.

mr makda
ive been reading all your reviews, your
criticism is very unfair, if you think you can do a better job then give a call to pete tong! i look forward to hearing all these new tracks from dj's but to you they are old; i think you should stop trainspottin and get a life mate!

 nodex2001 writes: Average
Average in every way, really don't see what the hype is around Tiesto at all, there are no shortage of far better trance DJs around and he has been playing more or less this same set for about a year now, zero effort.

 Sly Guy writes:
I'd rate this, but my progression of listening to this set was as follows.
1. Listened to the first 15 mins
2. Decided I didn't like the current tune, skipped ahead about 5 mins
3. Decided I didn't like that tune, skipped ahead 15.
4. didn't like that tune, decided to skip ahead to where traditionally the best tracks are played. [20 mins left and the last track]
5. Didn't like those, sent the mix to my archive never to be heard again.

Sorry Tij fans, he's crap. Even if you do like the cheese of trance you can find a better DJ than him.

 shoayb_makda writes: fao tiesto rocks
tiesto rocks your name says it all.its a JOKE!as like many of my prog listeners have already backed me up on tiesto is a commercial cheese master.hes only number one coz he wants to play at places like disney land and at the track events.the guys a prick!TRUE underground djs like lobsinger, steve gerrard and dousk/jdk are the people who are really moving the scene forward.and fyi mr tiesto lover i am not trainspotting.ive been into this music for 10 years now and have seen new talent appear more times than you have swallowed mr tiesto so dont tell me to get a life.learn to appreciate others views or just keep ur trap shut

 andyC writes:
I haven't heard all of this mix yet, but like a lot of it for what it is: 2am banging trance. If you like it, you'll like this mix, if you don't, you don't.

For those into their progressive or deep house sounds, trance always gets the 'cheese' tag, but tracks like 'Dark Side of the Moon' are simply superb.

I only wish he'd played more like this at the Nottingham event last month, rather than the 'cooler' progressive trance thats big at the moment for his whole set - just didn't seem to get going there.

 RAW2019 writes:
@andy .. just check pete tongs mix from a few weeks ago .. check that 'close to me' which starts at 60:16 with a nice hardfloor like acid buildup ...

that's what i call trance .. no cheese, just pure uplifting

 smallguy78 writes: cheese or not
tiesto is paid more than the other trance djs people have mentioned because he gets tracks on acetate months before anyone else. Same with grooverider, fabio, etc. I can't see him filling stadiums in a few years, so like a football player over 30 he may as well rake it in whilst he can

There's some pretty boring tracks at the beginning of the mix, and a really cheesy vocal monster (by Tiesto himself).
But there's also some cracking tunes on this mix I think, Olympic flame and the one after (although a bit ruined by an out-of-key violinist), and my favourite which i haven't been bothered to work out the name of (vocal one with lyrics "dont you know that i've been lying from the start").

His mixing is nothing special compared to people like Dave Clarke, but he does stick the right tunes together and change the tempo in the right places.

End of essay

Tiesto spins another track efter Tiësto - 'Adagio For Strings'

Does anyone know the name of that ?

This mix rocks, hands down the best of the year. Tiesto really blends the the old and new trance together to create a mix that is familular yet fresh.

Bravo Tiesto! When are you coming to SF?

Tommylove - the song that is on when it ends, with Pete talking over it is Adagio for Strings. Certainly on the listen again player that i recorded it from that was the last tune.

 deedo writes: Tiesto Disneyland
I found this site quite by change trying to find a song Tiesto played from his earlier show at Disneyland, and after reading what you guys said about him I though I better make a comment. I presume looking at the tracklist he played near enough the same stuff but what Radio 1 failed to play was the first 45 mins, which was fantastic in my option, after that it went downhill a bit. I understand why clubbers dont like him cos he's popular, and arrogant but he is talented and in his own way has added alot to music over the years. The thing that really annoys me about his music is the bloody MC that prattles on through his sets.

A lot of regular fans and we know what we talk about agree this set is way too commercial. do you guys actually think we like him no mather what of course not. you guys are just blind. his recent mixing is way better and even has the magik feeling a certain times. Like his HMH performing the 29th of april, if you were there you wouldn't say he was crap anymore and we ( know what we talk about...that's all I wanted to say

 teneighty writes:
There are a couple of tracks in there that don't appear in the list. One in between Exo (or "The Freak presents Exo) and Darren Tate. The other is in between Push and Joop - Another World. That should be Warren Fellows - Rushing to the Middle of It (smoke).

Secondly, you people are miserable. Geeze. So the style is not to your liking. Fine. And maybe it isn't the most incredible mix of it's style or genre. Fair enough. Do you have to bitch and wine about it, grow up! This page reads like narrow minded, arrogant, bitter teenagers who think they know everything (but maybe you are). Music has always been and will continue to be subjective. One person's "steaming pile o shite" is another's bliss. So long as a measure of effort and creativity were involved in a tracks creation, you may not enjoy, but who are you to say it is garbage like some music nazi? Maybe I shouldn't be so blunt, I'm starting to sound like the rest of you. In anycase, a little tolerance, k?

but save your 1's for some of the real shite that has been broadcast in the last few years:

Oakenfold at Amnesia
Tidy Boys
etc etc etc.
