This reminds me of why I was so in love with house music back in the day-it was dangerous. None of your CD mixes and pre-programmed sets; DJ’s like Rampling, Tong and Oakie who weren’t as naturally skilled on the decks as Sasha, Digweed and Cox but were every bit as good...you never knew what was coming next and vinyl only sets only magnified that feeling. I loved this set. Back when Danny was the only DJ who would happily marry straight up gospel house from the U.S. with driving, hard goa trance. Awesome stuff. Stimuli is indeed played during this set. Two other amendments, ‘Sea ofPassion’ belongs to Soulphuric (a Harry ‘Choi-Choo’ Romero mix and Rampling plays the Tuff mix of Faithless’ ‘Insomnia’ before playing the Monster mix everybody is familiar with but the first time this was played on the essential mix. I’d do anything to go back to these days. Oakie’s 3 live mixes for the E.M. that year and most of Tongs as well as this from Rampling we’re utterly brilliant. |
