Welcome to this site, here you can find the Radio One Essential Mix archives, ever since 1993 when it first broadcasted, up until today, and for the future. In time there will be features added for "artist in residence" which will be a profile of a DJ/Producer we will pick each month, and give you information about them and what they are doing now.

The page is updated by atleast a few people, so it is always up to date.

Yes, you can hit up, then go into the radio/radio1/dance/essential mix page, which should take you to their 'listen again' player, although you can only listen to it for a week or so until the next one. For full downloads, I'm a big fan of For about $7 every 3 months, you get unlimited downloads of all essential mixes ever made. People randomly post them to that site, usually within 1 or 2 weeks after the mix goes out. They have everything back to 1993, plus a bunch of other random mixes, such as breezblock and glastonbury. Hope that helps.

 DSmalls writes:
DD does it again. These guys introduced me to house music and man they stepped up in '05. I listened to this thing at work this afternoon and was the least productive I've been in the longest time. Incredible mixing and FLOW; they build and move a set like no one else. Track selection, build, and sampling give this thing a 10. Undoubtedly this will be in the top 10 and possibly the top EM of '05.

 hazard_ writes: Deep Dish
I'm not much for trance at all, I can't do the Ferry Corsten Stuff, and barely can feel the Perfecto Vibe anymore, but these guys SHRED, it's good, deep, tribal, etc. Also This Track REALLY did it for me :

Deep Dish featuring Stevie Nicks - 'Dreams' [Dub Mix + Club Mix] (Positiva)

Very Impressive.

 Trig1200 writes:
Not listened to an essential mix, for 5 years. But since I loved DD's mid 90s stuff, and since everyone gave it a 10/10, I'll give it a go,once I'v got it from SoulSeek.

 Trig1200 writes:
DD are on Positiva? Lol, Postitiva use to be a high street top shop handbag record label.

 Trig1200 writes:
30 mins in, and fuck all is happening. Its boring. These records are so easy to mix. There so minimal and repetative. The 90s were the best time for dance music, IMO.
Let see what happens in the next 30 mins.................................
[ Posted on 2005-07-11 00:06:15 ] [email]

 Trig1200 writes:
Hmmmm 40 mins in and it snaps into place. hmmmm. 8/10. Minimal tribal techno at its best I suppose.

Who is this guy......and if he hasnt listened to an em in 5 years, he would have known that this wasnt dd first em............

 tgross79 writes: one more thing
sdro, justify why you rated this em a 1.......moron

 sdro writes:
because this is not what i expected from DD! do i really have to justify???

 Trig1200 writes:
Tbh, this DD mix is like a Steve Lawler GU New Breed CD I heard 12 months ago.

Minimal boring shite, tbh.
[ Posted on 2005-07-15 00:48:37 ] [email]

 Trig1200 writes:
All creative minds have a shelf life of 10 years and a longevity of 20 years in the industry if their lucky. DD should jog on. I'v deleted this mix in favour of the similar Steve Lawler mix CD I have.
[ Posted on 2005-07-15 00:51:55 ] [email]

 nayga73 writes:
DD were the shit back in the late 90's and there stuff back then was cutting edge, but this mix does not justify what DD is all about, very disappointing!
[ Posted on 2005-07-16 21:43:29 ]

 CerealKiller writes:
I gave this EM a solid 9 out of 10. It had some solid beats and was an enjoyable listen. One of the better EMs I've heard in a long time.
And if anyone is complaining about the music selecting and mixing then they are being way too picky. This is a pre cd release promotional stop for DD. A large amount of the songs were produced and created by them specifically for their new album George is On.
All in all a great listen...go hit up the IRC channel and dl this bad boy.

gonxi writes: someone better?? i dont think so...
DD the best in world of house.... this EM really kicks ass. Exellent set track by track !!! RECOMENDATION: Deep Dish @ WMC 2005...!!!

 hansh20 writes: deep cheese!!!
this mix smells like cheese, is pretty boring, i would give it 4/10. (lack of creativity) :S
[ Posted on 2005-08-03 13:03:24 ]

 synkboy writes:
Deep Dish.....well their crown is slipping somewhat imho.

Gone are the fantastic underground grooves of previous years and now all we are left with(in this mix anyway) is a pile of commercial sounding crap.

Gods Uncle - Overclockers is a fantastic wee tune, but other than that there is'nt a lot really to make this stand out from other run of the mill house mixes.

Don't get me started on their recent productions either...........

 austoff writes: over.over.
over rated, they are, someone has put them on a pedestal and should have the sense to let them get down, gone are the days of elastic relativity and alcatraz, they are coasting along on a boring wave right now.
[ Posted on 2005-09-18 14:16:41 ]

 ronennoy writes: eww
this mix was seriously mediocre at best. even the deep dish songs suck. im giving it a 5 and im being generous.

talk about over-rated...nowadays people hear deep dish and they jump up as if the guys shit gold

Very good. Very good indeed. Not quite a 10 in my book though.
[ Posted on 2005-11-02 23:26:23 ]

 Hillsman writes:
Die-hard DD fans and fans of house/prog/tribal are going to rave about this. I listen to everything from ambient to trance to drum 'n' bass to techno. I personally preferred DD a couple of years back when infectious beats and percussion were what they were all about.

The opening 30mins of this set is actually very good, but a fairly boring 20min lull lets the set down. The final hour is hit and miss for me, but I can appreciate the mixing and track selection - 7 overall.

 spoons writes:
if its the deephouse mix im thinking of... top f***ing notch. but then again, theyre good enought to do that week in, week out! hope to see you guys dj again soon!
