hearing pete tong introduce "a man called bt" is so funny. if you can get your hands on them, listen to the difference between the introductions he gets for this mix and the one he did in 1997. you can tell the level of respect went through the roof.

but anyway, about the mix, in bt's normal form, there's no real genre to it. it's got everything. the intro makes for a nice effect, but it goes on a little long for my tastes. but from there it just takes off. this man actually had the balls to spin a smashing pumpkins tune - not a remix, this thing might as well be straight off the cd.

 matrix writes: Nice.
I really liked the variation in the first half of this mix....I personally thought it tailed off a bit just after half way, but I still go back to it sometimes.

matrix writes: 5 tracks in an hour?
The second hour just has the last 5 tracks. I know the IMA track is long....but this is why I lost interest after halfway.

farnesbarnes writes: Last 5 tracks - Sasha
The hype surrounding this Emix at the time was pretty big, but cos of BT's lack of mixing skill, it was a bit of a let down. The choice of tunes made up for it a little.

Last 5 tunes were mixed by Sasha (as far as I know). They were big buddies back then.

Highlight of the mix - Casa de X. Sublime.

 connell writes: good mix
great mix, but this tracklisting is missing BT - Tripping The Light Fantastic at around the 1hr 36mins mark

i'm not sure what hodensaft really means, as pete tong does in fact say immediately "his real name is brian transeau." bt was already very well known at the time of this mix, and was frequently played on pete's friday night programme, as i can bear witness.

 Jannakar writes: Fond memories
BT was reasonably well known before this mix was put out - Loving You More had been getting completely hammered in the clubs in the UK the summer before the mix was put out in September.

Also - IMA didn't turn up until a month or two after the mix was broadcast, so everybody was like - wow the second half was awesome - until they found out he was just playing a remix from his own CD, a remix by someone else at that.

 SYSTEM-J writes:
To clear up a bit of confusion about the tracklist, Sasha's Voyage Of Ima was a 40 minute mix of tracks from BT's album Ima, mixed by Sasha. So much of the second half of this mix is just BT playing a Sasha mix of BT records. The tracklist of Sasha's Voyage Of Ima is:

BT - Embracing The Future (Embracing The Sunshine Mix)
BT - Quark
BT - Deeper Sunshine
BT Feat. Vincent Covello - Loving You More (BT's Garden Of Ima Dub)
BT Feat. Vincent Covello - Loving You More (BT's Primordial Sound Mix)
BT - Nocturnal Transmission
BT - Tripping The Light Fantastic

Since BT wasn't a DJ, this entire E-mix is basically a showcase of his productions and remixes under various aliases with very little mixing and lots of unusual bridging tracks. Enjoyable and interesting, if you haven't heard these tracks caned to death a million times.
