Not his best mix but decent enough trance.

Some of his old mixes are fantastic - the one from Home in April 2000 for example. This was poor. I started fast-forwarding after 30 minutes, and every time I stopped it sounded the same as the previous time. |

Its an alright set, but a lot of it sounds the same, agreed.
PvD currently use a setup that consists of:
2x Apple laptops (1 for Serato Scratch Live & 1 for Ableton), 2x pioneer cdj's & a small midi keyboard for effects & fiddling with Ableton.
After seeing him perform with that setup & having 2-3 crashes throughout the 2½ hour set, i was bit disappointed... which leads me to...
People report that his laptops often crash at gigs, so actually - im not impressed at all.
The mixing is _too_ perfect to my liking.
In my ears , what gives a DJ set its charm is when you can hear the DJ is actually mixing the tunes using his/hers ears. May it be a bit of trainwreck every now & then or funny EQ tweaking.
It all adds up & gives the experience a little more of that roughness which is nice. imho. |

Great trance, but why was the whole thing recorded in mono?
Also why is this mix not listed on Radio 1's website? |
