This mix is far too commercial to be taken seriously by this listener I'm afraid.
For that reason I won't rate the mix. |

"Far too commercial"!?!? synk... I mean, I guess it is, I just can't fathom how you've made it through the last 3+ years of Essential Mix broadcasts and only raised the "it's commercial!!" flag NOW. There have got to be a couple dozen other broadcasts recently that are no LESS commerical, at the very least.
(I've also never gotten how "commercial" became an inherently negative term, but that's a completely separate discussion and one not worth rehashing... it's a religious war in the end.)
Personally, I enjoyed this mix. Mixing was a little utilitarian, but it's unoffensive if uninspired. Tracks are upbeat, light, and there's a whimsey to the set that was missing from his 2005 mix. (Which I have to admit I couldn't really get into, as hard as I tried. Just not my style. I know that makes me a bad person.)
Worth looking out for Tocadisco's take on Sono there in the middle, too -- refreshing alternative to the done-to-death Victor Calderone mix. And I will admit, in deference to synkboy's objections, that the closing 10-15 minutes or so are almost painfully heavy-handed. |

...OK, it's worth looking out for the Sono remix, but also not listening closely enough to notice the vocal edit. I missed it the first time around. :-P
(Then again, it's no worse than many of the other 'Essential' loops that end up slapped all over these mixes like so much police tape at a crime scene...) |

Come on ppl, why all the negativity? This was a good house mix with some fun tunes. I think it was allrite, and IT IS WORTH LISTENING TO! (especially if you're into french house) |

I loved this mix, it's Bob Sinclair's signature style with upbeat house and africanized house. The second half gets a little weird with the acoustic finish, but overall it was really nice.
Not sure why I see this "too commercial" bashing a few times too many. I go by personal taste, the consistency of the music, and the style of the DJ. |

I agree with ferd...an enjoyable upbeat mix that doesn't stretch any boundaries, but sometimes that's absolutely fine. |

i dont see the hype around sinclair, i know he is recogized throught the world, but i can't take anymore of this house music.....its turning into disco...i didn't listen to most of the mix, i was waiting for him to drop something nasty and it never came! |

when i first heard it I thought it was a pile of commercial tripe. 1 year on I have no realised how forward thinking Bob Sinclair is as a DJ. As Ibiza begins to die in its minimalist electro techno hell, Sinclair has realised before a lot of others, that cheesy House is coming back and in a big way. This summer in Mykonos, Sinclairs Africanism sound rocked and I foresee it ruling clubs in the foreseeable future. |
