Welcome to this site, here you can find the Radio One Essential Mix archives, ever since 1993 when it first broadcasted, up until today, and for the future. In time there will be features added for "artist in residence" which will be a profile of a DJ/Producer we will pick each month, and give you information about them and what they are doing now.

The page is updated by atleast a few people, so it is always up to date.

 soundchaser writes:
i didnt really get through this whole mix. it was kind of all over the place and its kinda difficult to describe in terms of the mix of music played.
not really focused enough for my tastes.
kind of interesting for a listen, but if you're looking for a solid, consistent dance mix, this isn't it.

tgross79 writes: what is going on at Radio1
is it me or have the EM's gone down drastically in the last 2 years, what used to be an anticipated live mix have been shitty sent in mixes (for the most part, there are expections and there have been some good live sets) but, tong and the crew at Radio1 have been making the Em's way to broad...and I am not really looking forward to listening to it anymore........

 synkboy writes:
Not a fan of this type of mix and I agree with the above correspondent about the downward spiral in quality.

Used to be I couldn't wait to hear the latest mix.

But this year has been absolutely shite for the most part.

 gill1970 writes: Yup
I think tgross79 is spot on. I like different syles and all but this year has, for the most part, been a let down.

 superjerry writes:
i actually don't think this mix is bad; then again, i pretty much listen to anything and everything

 superjerry writes:
well, just finished it. features a lot of music i usually listen to (lcd soundsystem, ricardo villalobos, the rapture, hot chip, etc.), and it's well-mixed. nothing to start a block party, but i liked it.

 matrix writes:
The Essential Mix needs a breath of fresh air like this one every now and again. This doesn't fully work for me because it's just too wilfully different in places, but very inventive and well mixed. The tune at 1:45:00 is great.

Put this alongside Air, The Rapture, Danny Howells 2002, Cass & Slide, Freddie Fresh etc in terms of bringing a fresh angle, whether it works for you or not.
